But I am also looking for recommendations. What's on your hook/needles in these dog days of summer?

Reminder: 1. You don't need to have an opinion on everything, especially stuff you don't know enough about 2. You don't need to have a PUBLIC opinion on everything 3. It's okay to focus on one or two things and let others take up the slack elsewhere 4. It's okay to take a break when overwhelmed.
Yup. This is where I note to people that the "books vs audiobooks" debate is a nonissue for the vast majority of authors, we're delighted you come to our work whatever the format. Also audiobooks opened up a whole new revenue stream for us, which we also, you know, tend to like.

My brother finds reading physical books a challenge, but tears through entire series of audiobooks and loves it. He's just now discovering he likes science fiction.

I feel like the modern whimsigoth and y2k styles are seriously underestimating the appropriate amount of dragonflies in their inspiration eras. Seriously, there were dragonflies everywhere.

There's nothing like the excitement of signing up for the summer reading program at the library. Mine has one for the adults, too!
Very annoying that the best way to improve anything is consistency. Just day after day effort. So boring and unsexy and yet so effective.
