Winter Workshop on Complex Systems

@wwcs.bsky.social

The Winter Workshop on Complex Systems is a workshop for early career researchers to gather together and engage in interdisciplinary research on complex systems. 17-22 Jan, 2027 in Briançon, France https://wwcs2027.github.io/

🎉 More than a decade of self-organised community building in complexity research! 🎉 For over a decade, WWCS has brought together early-career and established researchers from across disciplines to exchange ideas, build collaborations and explore complexity science together.

We kicked off the workshop with our first invited talk by the incredible Rafael Prieto-Curiel, who shared insights from his work studying how cartels operate in Mexico, sparking lively discussion and great questions. A fantastic start, and more to come!

🎤 Excited to welcome Luis F Seoane (Institute for Evolutionary Biology, UPF Barcelona) as our next speaker! His research spans evolutionary dynamics, network theory, linguistics, and more, focusing on how complexity changes across scales. We look forward to his insightful talk in Mallorca! ❄️🌎

🎤 We’re thrilled to announce our next #WWCS26 speaker: Carmen Cabrera, Lecturer in Geographic Data Science at the University of Liverpool. Camren's research focuses on human mobility patterns across spatiotemporal scales and population groups. We look forward to meeting her at Mallorca ❄️🌍

Last week I co-organized the Winter Workshop on Complex Systems, in the snowy mountains. Even though I was only physically present for a part of it, the atmosphere was amazing from the first moment. Huge thanks to my co-organizers, the speakers and all the participants! Until next time! #WWCS2025

This morning, a pirate took control of the workshop! 🏴‍☠️ Leto Peel, navigated us through The Broken Links of Network Science with sharp insights and plenty of thought-provoking ideas. Thank you, Captain Leto, for guiding us to the treasure of network science! 🙌
