Scotland’s nature has shaped us. Now it needs us. 🌍 Tackling the nature and climate crises to bring our world back to life.

It's in our nature to speak up. And we've done just that. 👏 We’re still feeling the buzz from handing our campaign over to the First Minister! Thanks to everyone who spoke up for nature & climate. We received nearly 9,000 actions, including petition signatures & messages for nature. Incredible! 🌍

Wading into the wonderful world of rivers this #WorldRiversDay! From fast-flowing burns to meandering estuaries, these habitats are teeming with wildlife. Looking after the land around rivers is key, because what happens on land can shape the health of rivers & the species that depend on them. 🦫💙

If you look at the night sky, you might spot the Harvest Moon! 🌕🌾 The silvery full moon helped farmers harvest their crops late into the night. Some tales also called it the 'Singing Moon', referring to harvest celebrations. A reminder to pause and connect with the natural world. #Moon #Folklore

As Michael Marra takes on the role of Scottish Labour leader, we're keen to work together to tackle the challenges facing people, nature & climate. 🌿 We need action that restores nature, supports rural communities & helps households benefit from warmer, more affordable homes through clean heat. 🌍

Oysters hold a rich local history. We've seen this first hand through restoring European flat oysters in the Firth of Forth with Restoration Forth. 🦪 And now, long lost oyster beds on the West Coast have been rediscovered thanks to Gaelic and Scots language. Wonderful news! 💙 #Marine #Wildlife

In late summer, heather bursts into bloom, covering our hillsides and moorland in a wash of pinks and purples. 💜 Not only is heather bonnie, it also comes with a rich history - from being linked to fairy folklore to "moorland tea" said to have been enjoyed by Robert Burns! ✨ #Nature #Wildlife

At this time of year, many of our seabird visitors are heading back out to sea. Including puffins, which by mid-August head out to bob on the open North Atlantic & North Sea. It’s always a joy to have visiting migrating birds, reminding us of how precious our world is and the need to protect it. 🌍🌊

In the lead up to the elections, we received thousands of messages for nature and climate. Here's one of them. 💚 Soon the Scottish Government will share their Programme for Government. We need strong commitments to restore nature and cut carbon emissions. 🌍

A little barn owl trivia for your timeline! 🦉 Barn owls, like many owl species, have asymmetrical ears. They're different in shape and one is higher than the other. Paired with their heart-shaped faces that helps direct sound, they can locate prey with remarkable accuracy. #Wildlife #Birds
