Gravetye Estate 10 Spotted Flycatchers some feeding recently fledged young,3 Willow warblers,Reed Warbler,Garden Warbler,Whitethroats. Lower lake covered with Little Grebe families also a Kingfisher wizzed through. Red kite following tractors cutting the meadow. Seed being put in next field.

WW res Green Sandpiper & 7 Common Sandpipers were the only waders,Lesser white throat & Sedge Warbler best warblers. Sand Martin and several Swifts went south as did 3 Clouded Yellows & 10+ Painted Lady’s

WW res Highlight this afternoon was a Lesser spotted Woodpecker which flew over the Reed bed,some very fresh looking Painted Lady’s with at least 9 seen. 5 more Common Terns just about to fledge, others just hatched earlier this week. First returning Osprey and 2 Black tailed Godwits reported Fri.

Paddockhurst Estate 4-6 Spotted Flycatchers feeding along the field edge,also here pair of Woodlarks. Just a Raven noted over,Chaffinches,Goldfinches & a Siskin were the only finches this afternoon.

Weir Wood res Black headed gull pair have 3 chicks, also 4 pairs of Common Terns have new young, 5th pair just fledged young. First Sedge Warbler of the autumn a scruffy adult.

Weir Wood res 3 Sandwich Terns fishing off the dam this afternoon,with 242 Herring Gulls,64 Black Headed Gulls,17 Lesser black backed Gulls & 2 Great black backed Gulls. 1 Great white Egret,1 Common Sandpiper and more Common Tern chicks hatching, Black headed Gulls should hatch any day.

Ashdown Stayed in the woods out the sun this morning,good news all the LSW fledged today. Pretty quiet but and my first Spotted Flycatcher of the year and a female Grey Wag feeding in wet woodland.
