His Majesty The King has approved the nomination of The Rt Revd Toby Howarth as the 2nd Bishop of Leeds. @leeds.anglican.org is a remarkable diocese. I am delighted that he will lead the next chapter of the life and witness of the church in this place.

When I became archbishop, one of my great hopes was that we'd have a conference for the @dioceseofyork.bsky.social. Delighted it starts today at York University. My prayer continues to be that the Lord Jesus, who has called us together, may continue to send us out to bring His love to the world.

It was wonderful to visit the Great Yorkshire Show last week. It reminded me that the church is present in every rural community, supporting those who work the land, celebrating the cycle of the seasons, reminding us that all these good things come from a good and generous God.

It was very moving to visit St Leonard’s Hospice in York, to meet with some of the staff and patients. For 40 years St Leonard’s has been providing care and support for terminally ill people, and people with life limiting illnesses.

Last week, people who minister to children and young people in their local churches were invited to celebrate Recognise Week at Lambeth Palace and Bishopthorpe Palace. They were all nominated by their bishops for going the extra mile to serve their congregations.
