8-1-26 5:26PM: Storms have developed in Southern Bexar county. Isolated storms will still be possible over the next few hours but coverage will be limited. Stronger storms will remain west of San Antonio.

8-1-26 3:07PM: Showers and storms are rapidly developing in the Hill Country. They are moving south along the cold front. Stay weather aware if you will be outdoors the next few hours and have a place to seek shelter if a storm approaches your location.

STRONG STORMS POSSIBLE ON SATURDAY (8-1-26): A weak cold front is expected to arrive in the afternoon from the north. This front will bring a chance for strong storms that could contain locally heavy rain, wind gusts to 50-55 mph, frequent lightning and small hail. 1/3

BERTHA NO MORE: As of 10pm, The National Hurricane Center has issued their last advisory on Bertha. It's now considered the remnants of Bertha. There are some showers and isolated storms on the radar. I expect some of that to move into San Antonio shortly. No severe weather expected.

BERTHA: Has made landfall near the Texas/Louisiana border. The heavy rain and storms will be moving onshore shortly along the coast. In San Antonio, we have a chance for showers and isolated storms after 11pm this evening. Bertha will quickly weaken over the next 8-10 hours.

TRIPLE DIGITS: Many cities reached the triple digits today including San Antonio. This is our first triple digit day in 2026. Tomorrow, we have another chance. Next week, more 100 degree days are likely for the San Antonio area.

BERTHA WED. AM UPDATE 7-22-26: Nat'l Hurricane Ctr. has modified the forecast track to be in better alignment with numerous models that are now showing this will be heading toward South Texas.

THURSDAY (7-23-26): NWS has extended the Heat Advisory through Thursday evening. Something else to note, smoke north of us will be moving south due in part thanks to Tropical Storm Bertha. There is also some Saharan dust out there but very minimal levels. Skies will be a little bit hazy tomorrow.

HEAT ADVISORY: Has been issued for most of South Central Texas for tomorrow from 12-8pm as we'll see dangerous heat across our area. Stay cool, hydrated, and take frequent breaks if working outdoors.

THE NEXT FEW DAYS: Tomorrow we're going to make a run at our first triple digit day in San Antonio. Heat indices will be near 107°. Heat indices will remain in the triple digits through next week. Just note that Thursday and Friday mornings will be in the low 80s so we're not cooling off at night.

BERTHA: Earlier this evening the Nat'l Hurricane Center upgraded TD Two to Tropical Storm Bertha. The forecast track remains unchanged. As it gets close to Texas it will weaken significantly and become an area of low pressure, if that. Still bears monitoring so check back often for updates.

TROPICAL DEPRESSION FORMS IN THE GULF (7-19-26): Nat'l Hurricane Ctr. just issued it's first advisory on TD #2 in the NE Gulf. In the coming days it is expected to strengthen into a Tropical Storm. It will get the name Bertha. It is expected to move west toward Texas. 1/2

10:07PM: Tornado Warning for western parts of Bexar county until 10:30pm. Storm located over Government Canyon, moving north at 20 mph.

STORM SURVEY: NWS just sent out the preliminary storm survey for this morning's tornado:

6:27PM: NWS has canceled the Tornado Warning for parts of Bexar, Guadalupe, and Wilson counties.

6:13PM: New Tornado Warning for Bexar, Guadalupe, and Wilson counties until 7pm. Storm near Calaveras Lake moving north at 15 mph.

5:40PM: Tornado Warning for SE Bexar county until 6:15pm. Storm located over Elmendorf, moving NE at 10 mph.

4:07PM: TORNADO WARNING for SE Bexar county. Storm located near Calaveras Lake moving NE at 15 mph. Trained spotter may have seen a brief touchdown.

10:08AM: Numerous Flash Flood Warnings are in effect for Bexar county, mainly in NW, NE, and eastern parts of the county through the next several hours. Rainfall totals ranging from 1-5" has fallen in past couple of hours. More rain is expected.

7:59AM: Confirmed tornado just north of The Rim. Storm moving NE at 20 mph

7:52AM: Tornado Warning for NW Bexar county . Storm over The Rim moving NNE at 20 mph.

7:46AM: Flash Flood Warning for NW parts of Bexar county until 12:45pm. Doppler estimates 2-3" has fallen and 1-2" additional rain is possible in this area.

7:11PM: Rotation is still visible on the radar but very weak. The rotation is now over the SA Airport. If this continues to move NE it will get close to Hill Country Village.

6:55PM: Tornado Warning for Bexar county until 7:15pm. Storm moving NE at 10 mph.

6:46PM: Rotation is being detected over Balcones Heights. NWS is closely monitoring for a possible warning.

6:25PM: Flash Flood Warning for Bexar county until 11:15pm. Storms have developed in the Leon Valley area northward into Kendall county. Locally heavy downpours likely which will lead to flash flooding. As we lose daylight it will be harder to see water over the roads so use caution.

HIGH RISK FOR FLOODING: Something we rarely see in South Texas unless there is a hurricane but areas west of San Antonio are under a high risk for widespread flooding through tomorrow morning. NWS has said that the Weather Prediction Center will place a high risk for a similar area tomorrow as well.

OVERNIGHT: The Weather Prediction Center has upgraded the San Antonio area to a Moderate Risk for flash flooding. Rainfall amounts over 3" with isolated locations that could see over 5" possible in the Moderate Risk area. Other areas will see less than 3" it just depends on where the storms set up.

FLOOD THREAT: This week widespread showers and storms is expected. Higher amounts will be west of San Antonio. I'm thinking widespread 2-4" with isolated higher amounts in Bexar county. Stay weather aware this week!
