AI scores a lead as 0? Delete it. AI doesn't mess up that badly unless the fit is terrible. Don't waste infrastructure.
Add a PS line with personal details. Mutual connection, specific product feature, company milestone. PS gets read when body copy doesn't.
Lowercase subject lines perform better. They look less promotional. More like internal messages. "quick question" > "Quick Question"
Mention competitors to create relevance. "Saw you use [tool]" builds context without being negative. FOMO works.
Valid emails behave differently than catch-alls. Split them. Monitor them separately. Optimize them differently.
Sub-1% reply rate means deliverability is broken. Not your subject line. Not your CTA. Fix infrastructure.
Subject lines should sound human. Not salesy. Not corporate. Write like you're emailing a friend.
If you're emailing fewer than 2,500 people per month, you're not doing outbound. You're experimenting.weets fron this
Run every lead through qualification before sending. Clay AI. n8n. Claude Code. Google Sheets. I don't care what you use. Just do it. Bad data kills campaigns faster than bad copy.
If your deliverability is below 90%, stop. Don't write new copy. Don't A/B test subject lines. Don't increase volume. Fix your infrastructure first. No copywriter on Earth saves broken inbox placement.
Stop emailing managers and coordinators. Target people who decide: → CEOs → Founders → CMOs → CFOs No six-week approval chains. When we filtered Apollo to decision-makers only, reply rates doubled.
Cold email lives on three pillars: → Deliverability → List quality → Copy Ignore one and you'll struggle to hit 0.5% reply rate. Nail all three and 3%+ becomes normal. Before tweaking subject lines, audit all three.
Kill the PDF lead magnet. Kill the webinar invite. Try this instead: "Would it be okay if I spent an hour building this for you and sent it over?" We've used this across 50+ campaigns. Average reply rate: 3-5%
Every email has three jobs: 1. Earn the open 2. Earn the read 3. Earn the reply Subject line + preview text = 3-5 words max. Nothing that screams "sales." If inbox placement is below 80%, no subject line saves you.
Does LinkedIn outreach still work? ・149 connections accepted ・81.9% reply rate ・72 interested leads From 399 connection requests sent. Yes, it works 💥
Cold email 101: → Get the infrastructure right → Target the right people → Use an offer that already converted on this ICP → Send more volume Most people skip step 1 and 2, then wonder why step 4 doesn't work.
Deliverability is important but people use it as an excuse. Yes, inboxes matter. Domains matter… But sometimes the email is just bad. Sometimes the offer is boring. Sometimes the list is out of ICP Perfect inbox health won't make ppl care about a weak offer.
"How do I write better cold emails?" Wrong question if your deliverability is broken. Learn domains, SPF/DKIM/DMARC, and inbox warmup before worrying about subject lines.
People ask for calls way too early in cold emails. A stranger doesn't owe you 15 minutes because you sent one email. Best CTAs are smaller: ・Worth sending more info? ・Should I send the breakdown? ・Open to seeing what this would look like? Low-friction asks get more replies
Reply rate can lie to you. A campaign with 20% reply rate is not good if most replies are negative. What matters: → Positive replies → Booked calls → Close rate → Deal quality Not just a screenshot showing a nice reply percentage.
Cold email beginners focus on copy. Wrong priority ❌ Focus on deliverability and targeting first: → DNS setup → Domain warmup → List quality Stack I recommend: → @smartlead_ai (sending) → Apollo (data) → @findymail (verification+signal) Infrastructure first. Copy later
Most personalization in cold email is fake Real personalization = why THIS person is being contacted → Their industry → Their customer type → Their hiring → Their market → Their pain Makes the email feel like it couldn't be sent to every random business on the internet
Doing an AMA with @smartlead_ai tomorrow at 11am EDT in their Slack community. Talking cold email, deliverability, automations, and how we scale our lead gen agency. Open to all questions. 🔥
Azure senders are not the next big thing. Much less reliable than Google right now. EDU panels = risky in 2026. You can wake up and lose all your inboxes overnight. One policy update and your operation dies.
2023: Everyone in France used Lemlist for cold email. We picked @Smartlead instead. Few emails per inbox. Infrastructure designed for deliverability and growth. At the time it seemed counterintuitive. Now it's just the norm !

Reddit thread: "I don't think cold emails are very effective for early SaaS." Translation: "I sent 100 generic emails, got 0 replies." Cold email works if: → Tight ICP → Relevant opener (reference their pain) → Clear value prop → Low-friction CTA Skip any of these, fail.
"Should I do LinkedIn DMs or cold email first?" LinkedIn: 50-100 DMs/day max before you hit limits. Cold email: 500+ per day with proper setup. Do both. LinkedIn for high-value targets you want to personally engage. Email for volume and testing.
Cold calling for early SaaS sales? Cheapest option: yes. Most scalable: no. Calls teach you objections fast. Emails let you test 10 different angles in parallel. Best move: do both. Calls to learn. Email to scale what works.
