Microsoft decided it was a good idea to not support the "/pt" parameter on mspaint.exe ? So, no more easy 1 liner to print an image file on Windows from a terminal I guess? (yes, I do that sometimes. Don't you??)

Oh oh! The French license-less car (it's a Citroën Ami, rebranded by Fiat, that was originally designed thanks to weird French regulations on such vehicles) has reached America. Fun fact: The electric motor in this thing is a re-purposed starter for a "real" engine
America’s cheapest new EV is smaller than a ping-pong table and tops out at 19mph
The GabeCube is cute... It's also too expensive. Part of that is out of Valve's control though
Brains are weird, and I caught myself correcting a point of grammar that was "English" in something that was written in French. I had an "avoir" in a construction that would work with "have" in English, where french uses "être" (be) 🫠
Star City, the spin off of For All Mankind that is following the Soviet side of this alt-history, is starting extremely strong on its first 3 episodes

It is perplexing that, a sensitometer like the one described in the ISO6 standard for black and white camera film testing, seems to not exist. The ones that seems to exist are made for X-ray film testing Nobody makes a device that expose daylight spectrum? Ilford and Kodak, what do they even use?
New weird kind of internet spam going on: Reddit DM from random people asking you to try out their one week old, obviously vibe coded application, with a link to their GitHub. 🙊
Mac people: Is there any reason I should bother learning about `launchd`, or is stashing script that I want to run daily in crontab still okay on *ye goode olde UNIX system*? cron seems to work fine and It even vomit its logs in my local mail spool if I let it do it.
I found that there's a nice AUR package to install Windows 11 fonts into Arch cleanly: ttf-ms-win11 I have a dual boot so, simply mount windows partition (read only is fine), copy all the /Windows/fonts/* files into the build cache directory (if you use yay it will be .cache/yay/ttf-ms-win11) first
NEW: The DOGE deposition videos a judge ordered removed from YouTube on Friday after they had gone massively viral have since been backed up across the internet, including as a torrent and to the Internet Archive
The Removed DOGE Deposition Videos Have Already Been Backed Up Across the Internet
On Friday, a judge ordered those who uploaded the videos to YouTube to remove them. By Saturday, a backup of the videos was available online as a torrent and on the Internet Archive.

This video is great as it do clear up 2 things that throw off digital photographers - ISO is not changing sensitivity, it's how much gain on the signal before digitizing - Noise comes from lack of light, not "high ISO". - The practical advice is good But, it misses the origin of the confusion 🧵👇
Do *you* understand ISO?

Maybe I am missing something, but I cannot find a good replica or a good analog of this input device on the space shuttle's cockpit that can be just used on a computer. It is called the THC: Translation Hand Controller, and is a 3 DoF device used for... Well, translation control in space!
one of the shiny new stuff that I need to look at is this new language to write shaders called Slang shader-slang.org I think it is a Khronos standard. It also happens that currently the LunarG Vulkan SDK ships a compiler for it. That's wide enough adoption to consider this seriously!

Watch time I hear @reckless.bsky.social say the words “digital god”. My brain substitute them with “torment nexus”. I don’t really know how to feel about the above really.
It is a good thing that SteamWorks by default remove PDB files from your game builds. It is rare to see a Unity game made by an indie that *does not* contain the `_DoNotShip` folder in it.
