The year 1โs had a fantastic time at Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses yesterday. We learned all about fruits and vegetables, and observed how they grow. We got to smell lots of herbs and tasted pepper, green beans and rhubarb. We even planted our own bean seeds! ๐งโ๐พ๐ฉโ๐พ๐ช๐ชด๐ฅฌ๐ ๐ฅฆ๐ฅ๐๐๐ฅ๐
We had a lovely time at Brunswick Park playground today as part of our DT topic. We will be creating our own 3D sculptures of a playground this term ๐
Year 1 are busy getting ready for our Fruit Punch Fundraising Sale today. We are raising money for Save The Children. Tropical Fruit Punch on the way!! ๐๐๐๐ง๐๐โฑ๏ธ
The year 1โs had a great day walking along the River Thames today. We spotted lots of iconic London landmarks ๐ฌ๐ง Now to finish our London landmark sculptures in Art!
We have been learning about position and direction in maths in year 1. When learning about ordinal numbers, we did running races to identify who came 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th ๐๐โโ๏ธ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ
The year 1โs really enjoyed adding the modroc to their 3D art sculptures of the Shard, Tower Bridge and Buckingham Palace. Next stepโฆ painting! ๐จ๐๏ธ
In Computing we are learning how to make pictograms on Purple Mash. Today we made a class pictogram about 1Aโs favourite fruits. Strawberries were the clear favourite ๐โค๏ธ
In RE today we learned about how Hindus believe actions (karma) affect what happens to us. For the challenge, some pupils identified their own example of good karma.
For World Autism Awareness Month, 1A has decorated a quilt piece with all the things that are special to them. They have also written how they show kindness ๐
Today we started our new history topic learning about photographs from the past. We explored lots of different cameras today and discussed what historians use photographs for ๐ธ๐ฅ๐คณ๐๏ธ

In maths yesterday, we did some consolidation work on counting by 2โs, 5โs and 10โs. We used our show it, draw it, explain it and prove it mats to help us practice skip counting.
In PSCHE we are learning about good hygiene. Today we identified some problems and how we could fix them so we are clean and healthy ๐๐ซง๐งผ๐งด
In maths today we measured capacity by counting how many cubes we could fit in different sized containers!
We loved listening to different adultโs favourite poems today for World Book Day. This one was our favourite in 1A, โChocolate Cake,โ by Michael Rosen ๐ซ๐

We have been learning about Mass and Volume in year 1 maths. We used a balance scale and cubes to measure different objects we found in the classroom.
1A loved drawing their animal characters for their e-book on Purple Mash today. It was our first lesson in creating our own animated story online.
The year 1โs had a great time during our Artist in Residence session at the end of last term. We used boxes and elastic bands to create our very own instruments. We then made a recording of our music as a class!
This term we have been exploring colour in year 1, using paint. We have been learning about warm and cool colours. Yesterday we started to paint our sunset landscapes, inspired by Georgia OโKeeffe.
In year 1, we are currently doing our consolidation lessons in maths. This means we are revisiting previous lessons and completing new activities with different resources to further strengthen our understanding.
The year 1โs had a very special visitor this afternoon during our party. 1A got a marble run and 1B got play dough from Santa. We were very excited to tell Santa what we would like for Christmas ๐๐
