Weather nerdery for Edmonton Alberta, with side discussions of nearby rural stations, and other big Canadian cities.

At 3PM the sun is out again, and Blatchford has recorded 21mm. So July 2026 now sits at 263.5mm. That's still 5.6mm short of our record-breaking June, and 19.2mm shy of 1901's all-time record. #yegwx #yeg

July 25th's storm pushed the July total up to 242.5mm, which is Blatchford's 3rd rainiest month on record. #yegwx #yeg The only months with more were 269.1mm last month, and 282.7mm in 1901. (and one more big storm could catch either of those) public.tableau.com/shared/XJ56W...

The rain is still going, but at 2PM it's been 16.2mm, which moves July 2026 up to 258.7mm. That's only our 3rd month to ever cross the 250mm mark. It's 10.4mm away from catching last month, and 24mm away from 1901's all-time record. #yegwx #yeg

Downtown has had two not-insignificant storms in the past hour. So I'm really curious how close this will push July to June's 269.1mm.

29.9mm total for the storm will push 2026 up to 634.7mm. That's still 5th overall. But its 7mm away from 4th place, & 15mm from 3rd. #yegwx #yeg

It's still raining out there. #yegwx #yeg But as of 10PM Blatchford got another 15mm. That would push July close to 230mm. And 2026 overall will be around 620mm, which takes over as Blatchford's 5th most on record. public.tableau.com/shared/BPHF9...

And because it won't stop raining, we've now passed 1978's 604.3mm and taken over the #6 spot.

Somehow it's both rainy & smoky? But this morning's rain pushed Blatchford's precipitation for 2026 up to 602.5mm. #yegwx #yeg That is Blatchford's 7th most on record. The last time Blatchford got to 600mm was 1978. The airport & Stony Plain got there in 1996... public.tableau.com/views/Edmont...
