A line of downpours between Halifax and SJ this am will gradually dissipate. Otherwise just spotty showers. A band of rain at times heavy slowly crosses the S Maritimes on Monday. Showers linger Tuesday... just patchy drizzle Wednesday to end what has been a rather damp month.

Difficult to forecast the details. The overall patern has passing rain or drizzle largely over SW NS-NB today & Sunday. Otherwise the clouds are high & thin enough to see some sun. The rain likely more widespread Monday then tapers to showers/drizzle Tuesday and just spotty on Wednesday.

Mostly fine today with high cloud thickening over the southern Maritimes. Models in better agreement on the impacts from offshore low: rain/breezy most likely Saturday over SW NS; just showers/drizzle elsewhere S Maritimes on weekend. Showers more widespread Monday then gradually ease Tues-Wed.

Clear & cool as the sun rises.. then warms up with 20C likely inland NB; possible in NS & PEI. The models inconsistent with the forecast of an ocean storm to our SW on the weekend. The CDN model (attached) is the most pessimistic: breezy & damp late Friday into Tuesday over much of the region.

Sunshine continues for another few days. Frost becoming less likely later in the week... and 20's more likely tomorrow and perhaps Friday. The ocean storm still forecast to move along the eastern seaboard of USA. Rain & breezy east winds move into at least the southern Maritimes on the weekend.

Quite a bit of sunshine between now and Friday. Sun obscured at times by high cloud. Teens in the afternoons; single digits and inland frost overnight. A storm near Cape Cod late week threatens the south and west with rain and wind. TBD.

Light showers clear first over the SW to a sun cloud mix this aftn. Elsewhere spotty showers may linger (see pics). Tuesday to Thursday: expect lots of sunshine; teens during the day & single digits at night. A low pressure system develops near Cape Cod late week may spread rain & wind over the SW.

Fine today with high cloudiness. A few showers develop this evening N NB spreading over the southern Maritimes overnight. Meanwhile a band of rain may clip the Atlantic coast. Showers become spotty Monday afternoon with a few sunny breaks developing. Mostly sunshine Tuesday-Thursday.

Multi-model outlook into late September: looks like a manageable weather pattern. Looking forward to a fine weekend. Rather humid with rain late Sunday into Monday. Then fine with some showers later in the week. Temps cool off after the rain events; and will feel like Fall when Autumn arrives .

Rain at times heavy just moving into Halifax at 6:30am. The rain leaves NB and western NS this morning; ends in HFX and PEI near noon; and finally eastern NS during the afternoon. Skies clear and all but CB will have a chance to see some 20s this afternoon. A mostly fine weekend as well.

Showers or drizzle are weakening, but lingering over eastern areas today. Sunny breaks over the west. More showers re-develop Tuesday. Fine Wednesday. Then a band of rain at times heavy moves in Thursday (15-25mm?). Thank goodness it looks like a decent weekend Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

While no weather model is perfect, the High Resolution Canadian model was predicting the risk of 200+mm. The area of 100+mm was also pretty well forecast. This model will likely be the basis for the ECCC planned upcoming point forecast product.

Rain or drizzle persisting over all but extreme western areas today. Eases off with sun in the west Monday. The equivalent of 2-3 months of rainfall over parts of CB this weekend has resulted in extensive flash flooding (reminder, Canada still does not have a flash flood warning program!). Sigh.

Cape Breton Mesonet rainfall totals are quite remarkable this morning.... with at least another 50mm on the way. I expect there is a lot of flooding... do not drive onto water covered roads. sigh

Over 100mm yesterday parts of PEI & CB. Still heavy rain today, that's shifting westward into parts NB & W NS (see pics). I have a total of 66mm so far; expecting another 20mm today. The rain becomes more showery Sunday. Drizzle persists PEI & eastern NS Monday. A band of showers Tuesday. Fine Wed.
