Chips brought his own breakfast this morning. He flew in with some carrion. See how they arrange the food just right in their beaks before flying off a short distance to bury it. It’s amazing that they remember all these stashes too! I can’t even remember where I put my keys!

Remember when useful software or apps came free (indefinitely) on new computers and phones? Now we get subscriptions to rent what was once free. Or, we are expected to settle for "freemium" versions having all of the useful features greyed out unless you upgrade to a subscription. 😡🤢🤮

I thought something was odd as I surfed Bluesky. The words and tags I muted on a trial basis expired. I renewed them. Much better now!

Breakfast with the Ravens in the rain this morning! They seem to enjoy a bit a rain they often relax and almost go to sleep in it!

How peculiar? Once again there are just enough Democrats to cross the aisle and help out a Republican venture. But when opposition is needed, or a proposal may benefit ordinary Americans, we are told "We don't have enough." It's almost like...wait for it...controlled opposition. 🤔

I have changed my profile picture for Bluesky. It sums up the whole identity of the rapist in chief and his enabling, sycophant party. We cannot accept his perversity and corruption as just "the way things are now."

Food so good you grow an extra finger!

So, this morning, I did my now-the-usual check of news headlines. Thirty minutes, max. What did I learn? Virtually nothing. The 'news' is the same ten headlines, bannering grade six writing, designed solely to justify the click-baity headline.

I spent my weekend ignoring the nightmare circus (news). I made progress disentangling from everything Google. Within a day, there was a dramatic drop in targetted marketing. "If something is 'free', you're the product."

Not mine, but an awesome close up video of a New Mexico flying T-Rex. T-Rex? Yup. They hang around our hummingbird feeder, stalking snacks. 😳😢

The Food and Drug Administration last week authorized the Aletta, a standalone robotic device that can autonomously draw blood. The agency says the bot could eventually help laboratories deal with staffing shortages and reduce the time it takes for patients to complete routine blood work.

Muting 90% of the political outrage porn opened a new Bluesky for me. I've met hikers and nature lovers near and far. I check in on a Japanese urushi artisan specializing fountain pens. There are countless people who share my love of greyhounds and ravens. It's lovely!

Having hiked a lot of notch canyons, it's terrifying to imagine one always filled with fast flowing deep water.

Old photo: this innocent-looking portion of the River Wharfe on the Bolton Abbey estate, known as The Strid, is actually one of the most dangerous stretches of water anywhere in the world. For those unfortunate enough to enter the river here, the undercutting and currents make it a certain killer.

Many people think deserts are dry and unvarying. Collectively I've lived in the American desert southwest nearly 25 years. Today's morning walk was as humid as Georgia. No new fauna to post. But it's tarantula mating season. My spider scanners were at maximum sensitivity. ❤️

What a special treat this morning. The Ravens took some time out of their busy schedule to spend some time with me 😁 Then I was so lucky to watch them bond and feed each other. I am biased of course but Chips and Gravy are such special birds!

Day two of my self-imposed blackout of Bluesky posts about Trump, MAGA, MAHA, Epstein, and things related. Yes, I still read the news. But it's been beneficial avoiding the "Here are seventeen more repeated posts detailing things you need to be outraged about."🙂

Mail was interesting. Two letters advising us of 10-35% price increases. One from Experian saying "Oopsie! We gave away your social security number." Another from Experian, inviting us to upgrade to their "premium" service. All said, We "value our relationship" or "apologize for any inconvenience".

New Mexico is prime for the rise of democratic socialists. One reason is the regressive tax hike (sponsored by Democrats) raising car registrations 25%, and exempting trucks, motor coaches, RVs, and boats. Those are luxuries. Tax them first and most, not a working Joe's daily commuter car.

I'm not a fan of country music, especially not the eastern, Appalachian genre. I've never seen a Dolly Parton film either. Never followed her entertainment news. All of that said, she was a rare type of person. Extraordinary. Exempliary. Deep bows to her generosity and kindness.

I'm muting all posts mentioning Trump, MAGA, MAHA and Epstein. That way, I'm no longer spending emotional energy on things beyond my ability to make better. I'm leaving the circle jerk of outrage behind.
