Is this trip really necessary?

So, paper straw-trauma came up earlier, and I was like, 'They were always paper, these days they just don't wax em enough.' Made me think how sometimes eco-solutions get pushed that bit too far and lose utility. Like 'Did you really have to shave that last eight inches off the back of microcar?'

Also the Trump administration is a case study in why Bostonians have been working tirelessly to condense "Dafuquiswrongwichu' into one syllable. Prototypes of Dafuq have been in beta test a while, but we'll puh through the barrier soon, we hope.

One of my little ambitions in life is to name some supernova remnant so future space travellers can have a map that says somewhere "Here There Be Space Monsters."

Public service announcement: As dumb as it is that the lettuce is bad, if you wash it a lot, the contagion will actually no longer be on it. Just support yer locals if you can and wash carefully.

You know, I was holding this observation back about July 4th and all the usual screaming about 'our poor animal babies can't take the feeers and noise! I and Miss Kitty and her esteemed predecessor here to that say, "NUTS!" If they're overly afraid of thunder or fireworks, they probably...

Yaknow, there's much comment on the devaluing and dissing of expertise and facts in the world and corporate and disinformation media, but it occurs to me that it's also pushing off all manner of mental and emotional labor off on the populace to have to account for motivation, propaganda, AI fakery,

Also the bright side of the Reflectey Algae Swamp debacle is... At least it apparently won't be too big a job to get Trump's tacky blue Harbor Freight bedliner off the stone. :)

0430 this morning. OK, time to stop philosophizing and prepare to hit the rack. *kittycat meows, Largebug crashes into screen and onto keyboard.* In a world with too many people wanting to just blow shit up and start over, but no clue how anything works, thanks Largebug, for bein yer crazy self.

They removed CD/DVD drives from PCs. -Made physical media harder to buy and use. -Removed expandable storage from phones. -Pushed us into streaming subscriptions. -Made always-online normal. -Made unlimited internet necessary. -Slowly raised the price of everything. Ownership quietly became renting.

(Also that last one's about being in the US like thirty years after that song trying to be a priestess about too many people not believing there's anything to fight *for* but wounded senses of masculinity and induced self-shaming and all the kinds of things that make 'incels' of younger people.)

If I really had any, by the way, I'd give real money if l had any, and lefty commentators would cool it with the clickbait titles and padding shit out without ever getting around to whatever events constitute 'All Hell breaking loose' or 'Melts Down' Or 'Crashout.' Or Blows Up. Or whatever.

I had a lot of cause this evening to think of my home in place and time back in Boston. There were far harsher and/or ruder words to say about so many things, but "Stupid and wrong" was about the most thorough dismissal, denial, etc of any given course of action. Why is this now governing?

In a time when I'm overloaded trying to keep up with stuff, it's probably not the best sign that Youtube is just throwing me playlists almost entirely made of my occasional personal-morale-boosting songs. I should take more time for music, especially if this shit takes more years.

And, ugh. I haven't weighed in on much by posting lately but I'm definitely getting disproportionate numbers of posts about bike lanes while policy continues to burn more fossil fuels than anyone was paying attention to when we didn't back Ukraine enough and now there's this whole Iran meathead,

Among the ways I am dismayed at my country is that I have spent my half-century and change of life trying to take as much of all knowledge as my province only to find absolute ignorant asshats trying to make all ignorance their fucking empires.
