Sentinel-2 caught this view this morning of the fires in central Greece of the Xironomi wildfire - fades to heat sigs, images Copernicus Browser. The fire to the east appears to be approaching Ag. Vasilios, is this the town that lead to evacuation by sea?

Smoke plumes and heat signatures in the Aegean region seen by Meteosat-12 today. In Greece the Xironomi (2 plumes in this area) and to the south the Flokas and Fichti wildfires while in Türkiye the most prominent is the Çine wildfire

Heat signatures from the Dunwich Heath wildfire in Suffolk, England are being picked up by the Meteosat-12 satellite over 36,000 km away.

Meteosat-12 is detecting many large fires across the Aegean region as the northerly wind surge continues. Including in Türkiye, near Biga, Kumgedik, SW of Bozdogan and Greek islands Andros, Kalymnos, Paros and on Crete from the Asomatos and Rethymno wildfires

The Meteosat-12 imagery just in from dawn this morning shows the smoke from the #gironde and #biscarrosse #wildfires has moved inland and covers SW France. Heat signatures give indication of shift in fire directed inland towards west outskirts of Bordeaux. 220,000 evacuated.
