I just love a staircase in the woods. To me, they are a story just waiting to be explored.

Another cat-loving nerd from the Pacific Northwest. Except this one writes awesome stories, too. http://zdgladstone.blogspot.com/
I still remember the first time I read this book. It changed how I read. It changed how I understood my country's place in the world. It changed my ability to empathize. I am a better person for having read Marjane Satrapi. Thank you for your gifts, & rest in peace.
Why yes, I observe May 28th as National Hamburger Day by making my own delectable dinner. Tonight: potato bun (toasted, of course), ground wagyu seasoned w/ salt, pepper, & fresh thyme, graced with balsamic caramelized onion, fresh arugula, & pepperjack cheese. Grape tomatoes on the side.

Sorry, my bad, Ada's was stop number 5. The Haunted Burrow - delightful gem of an indie bookstore - was stop number 6. And it really did delight me. And then also broke my heart because it is ALSO CLOSING IN JUNE WTF CAPITOL HILL!?!! #seattleindiebookstoreday
Bookstore stop number 6, posted with mixed feeling, because Ada's Technical Books will be closing in June. More than a bit heartbreaking.
Fourth stop. Already buzzing from a poetry high. Starting to suspect this is the best day of 2026 so far. #seattleindiebookstoreday
First stop of the day! Met this fine canine connoisseur of the written word. #seattleindiebookstoreday

Today's adorableness is brought to you by: ducklings. Because spring.
It's not unusual for me to wake up in the middle of the night, nor for me to struggle falling back to sleep from time to time. What IS unusual is for me to hear the shrieking of a seagull on my roof. In the mountains. At 1:40am. And again at 2:11am. And 3:05. And 3:24. Etc. Death to seagulls.
Met with the Boss at the best bookstore Hawaii has to offer. No better place to be a book nerd in all the Pacific!
Bought this book at the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, TN almost 10 years ago. Reading it again today, thoughtfully & reverently.
Ok, just watched "Dust Bunny" with Mads Mikkelsen & Sigourney Weaver, because I hadn't heard of it until today. And it was FABULOUS, so imaginative, & now I'm so pissed I didn't hear about it when it was in theaters, because it is JUST the kind of original work I want to support!! GAAH!
Had such a blast at @orcacon.bsky.social today. 🥰 It's such a warm, welcoming space! I met some great people, played some really interesting games, & I don't think I've ever laughed so much on a panel.
This...THIS...is why I always spend too much money at Cons!!!
It just hit me that it's one week until @orcacon.bsky.social! Can't think of a better way to ease into a new year. I'm utterly stoked to be paneling w/ fellow author @sandrarosner.bsky.social about the Psychology of D&D. Using #TTRPG as a therapy tool is hot these days!
Just a reminder that the Fellowship set out from Rivendell on the 25th of December. #LOTRisaChristmasmovie
Someone said, "There's no such thing as bas sex or bad pizza." They were, of course, wrong. But there's no such thing as bad eggnog. Store bought or scratch, spiked or kid-friendly, it defines the season for me. So if you're waiting for a sign to drink some, here it is. Go forth: get your 'nog on.
A friend had me over for holiday treats this morning! I felt like I fell into a catalog photoshoot.
A couple days late, I'm afraid, but let's face it: these issues are important every day. www.culturalsurvival.org/news/9-ways-...
9 Ways to Decolonize and Honor Native Peoples on Thanksgiving
Stories told about the first Thanksgiving often perpetuate harmful stereotypes and erase the true history of the early encounters between Native communities and colonizers.

Getting my Halloween vibe going with a hike around Cougar Mountain! Nothing like spooky trees & abandoned mine shafts to set a mood!
