Another cat-loving nerd from the Pacific Northwest. Except this one writes awesome stories, too. http://zdgladstone.blogspot.com/

I still remember the first time I read this book. It changed how I read. It changed how I understood my country's place in the world. It changed my ability to empathize. I am a better person for having read Marjane Satrapi. Thank you for your gifts, & rest in peace.

Why yes, I observe May 28th as National Hamburger Day by making my own delectable dinner. Tonight: potato bun (toasted, of course), ground wagyu seasoned w/ salt, pepper, & fresh thyme, graced with balsamic caramelized onion, fresh arugula, & pepperjack cheese. Grape tomatoes on the side.

It's not unusual for me to wake up in the middle of the night, nor for me to struggle falling back to sleep from time to time. What IS unusual is for me to hear the shrieking of a seagull on my roof. In the mountains. At 1:40am. And again at 2:11am. And 3:05. And 3:24. Etc. Death to seagulls.

Ok, just watched "Dust Bunny" with Mads Mikkelsen & Sigourney Weaver, because I hadn't heard of it until today. And it was FABULOUS, so imaginative, & now I'm so pissed I didn't hear about it when it was in theaters, because it is JUST the kind of original work I want to support!! GAAH!

Someone said, "There's no such thing as bas sex or bad pizza." They were, of course, wrong. But there's no such thing as bad eggnog. Store bought or scratch, spiked or kid-friendly, it defines the season for me. So if you're waiting for a sign to drink some, here it is. Go forth: get your 'nog on.
