Was in active fire territory earlier. One of the three fires in Spokane County is burning nearly 4k acres and swept through trails in Riverside State Park.
45 degrees at our campsite at 10:30 pm. very little smoke (can see some off to the north) gonna be a cold one tonight. (Predicted down to 35, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's colder as clear as it is)

It also burned the craziest place I ever landed in a helicopter. An old Vietnam pilot put me down in the tightest confined space I've seen. want a story time thread? /1

Most of the smoke in Washington is from the Little Giant fire near Chelan Most of the Smoke in SW Idaho is from Tartar in Weiser Central & East Idaho smoke is from Big Grass Fire in Owyhee Highlands All fires are contributing smoke, but these are the major players #IdahoFire

If I’m reading this situation correctly, in one day— the Tartar fire dramatically ran roughly 20 miles south toward a populated area overnight. Dark red = run.

Zeb Palmer@zebpalmer.com · 4d agoHoly shit, y'all. The Tartar fire made a terrifying run south after sunset. One of the more aggressive movements I can recall seeing on Satellite. #IdahoFire I just keep watching that south run... Evacuation statuses now extend down to Weiser City Limits.
They just posted an updated evac status map while I was in the shower. It's a 100,000' view, but it's something... (it's been a long day, I'm tired) #IdahoFire Tartar

Idaho Power reports a new power outage on Price Road just north of Olds Ferry Road. Me thinks the Tartar fire has reached the Weiser Valley? #IdahoFire
Based on triangulation from 4 different fire webcams in Idaho and Oregon, and this and a couple other IDT cameras. yeah. I'm fairly confident the fire is well into areas that aren't yet listed as GO NOW zones and has reached hwy 95. Could be wrong.. but sure looks like it #IdahoFire Tartar
