Visited the local reptile expo and got two Australian green tree frogs! They're both about 3 years old. The blue one is friendly and relaxed, while his brother is a bit jumpier, literally and figuratively- he's turned a bit greener since taking pictures, though, so he's settling in!

my 97 year old grandpa decided to polish off a bottle of scotch last night and fell on the way to the bathroom, he didn't hurt anything but I stayed up all night checking on him, just to make sure. He seems totally fine now, thank god, but boy am I exhausted.
spotted a juvenile isopod! unfortunately, my phone camera/scrap lens combo makes getting a leg count difficult, so the exact life stage is unclear, but this little lady is about 0.8mm long. a very little lady, indeed. #bioactive #invertebrates #isopods #terrarium
found a mod for Terraria that lets me play as a kobold, my life is immediately improved
two years into living out in the woods to take care of my grandparents, and it's wearing me down a lot more than I thought it would. i don't think i've ever felt this isolated before. or, if i have, it's never felt this bad.
Terrarium update! Plants still growing, moss is either unhappy or still acclimating, springtails are established, isopods recently reproduced, and the gnat problem was stopped with some BTI. Interloper populations of soil mites and mystery hexapods seem under control- no need for hypoaspis yet.

Aside from critter-keeping, I've been spending a lot of time on the deer trails out here. This isn't a hunting zone, so the deer here don't really mind much when I pass them on the path. #lowquality #naturephotography
I was browsing supplies at a pet store when the dubia cockroaches caught my eye- I need a colony to feed the frog I'll have soon, and they appeared to be on their last legs, so I got a steep discount on a few containers. Gave them a dark bin with some food and water, and they're doing great now!

Went to feed the colonies, and I got the privilege of seeing two mature isopods on the surface in their reserve bin! Too shaky to get a good shot before they dug away, but look! The dark line in the more visible one is her alimentary canal, full of food! I'm proud of her 🥹 #bioactive #isopods
