Considering sending a legal Subject Access Request to the Jehovah's Witnesses, after one of them said "you talked to us before" as she doorstepped me. I mean, seriously, the cheeky fuckers, keeping personal data on people they think are good marks for indoctrination of their creationist death cult.

Brief convo with doorknocking Jehovah's Witnesses just now... ugh. "I've read Acts, Deuteronomy and Leviticus, and they tell me that your doctrine against blood transfusion is unbiblical, as well as brutally uncompassionate. It's abominable. And don't get me started on your lies about evolution."

I don't paint figurines. I hate painting figurines. I painted a figurine. "Rauchen verboten" or "Hast du eine Ziggi für mich?": plastic and decals by Tamiya; art (including cigarette) by me. I made the cig from a guitar string (d'Addario 0.09" top E). #HistScaleModels

When I was reading a lot about Zen, I bought this piece of calligraphy, direct from the artist, and hung it on my bedroom wall. It is a mighty Zen text of ancient wisdom - it says in the Diamond Sutra that whoever recites this dhāraṇī need fear no demon: anata no pajamawa ahiru kusaii. (v alt text)

Hung in a simple frame on a white wall: a piece of hand-painted calligraphy in Japanese, in a combination of kanji, katakana and hiragana scripts, and the artist's seals in the bottom left corner to show authenticity. Most British people would assume that the text was some deep, meaningful piece of Buddhist wisdom; in fact, it reads "Your pyjamas smell of duck." It's by an artist trading as Kanji Panda: https://www.instagram.com/kanji.panda/reels/

You can trust me - I'm a scale model builder. I got tired of accidentally knocking my desk-mounted illuminating magnifier out of the way while using it, so I bought a head-mounted one, which doesn't make me look like a massive weirdo in the slightest. Test-drive later today. #HistScaleModels

Head and shoulders photo of a man facing the camera. On his head, he is wearing a device which combines headtorch and magnifying spectacles on a headband - the magnifying lenses make his eyes look weirdly big.

Illness rant... Second time in a week that I forgot my shopping list for a trip to the supermarket. Seriously, f*ck post-covid brain fog. All morning my anxiety's been nagging me "You need to buy those essentials, you're going to run out!". Then I get to the shop and cannot remember the essentials.

I soldered together two bits of scrap brass without setting fire to myself, the cats, or any of my surroundings. It's not the messiest join ever, either. When I opened a pack of PE fenders for a model, and the instructions said "best soldered", my heart sank. But maybe it'll be OK. #HistScaleModels

Close-up of a thumb and forefinger holding two small strips of brass soldered together in a "pretty good for a beginner" way.

#AI hits Quantum Theory, with a new a version of the "Wigner's Friend" thought experiment; does a system's state collapse to a single eigenstate when Wigner asks AI to make a measurement, and AI makes up some untrustworthy bollocks and instals malware to send user data to Palantir? #Physics #Science

I use old newspaper to protect the top of the kitchen table when it becomes a crafting workbench, my place of Creative Magic. Here's the current Creative Magic, evoking the defaced textbooks of my 1980s all-boys secondary school days. Ahhh, the nostalgia...

A newspaper page of colour photos. The faces of the people have been defaced with black felt tip pen, in a crude style stereotypically used by British schoolboy teenagers in textbooks: curly moustaches, round lensed spectacles, scars with stitches, and the ultra-classic 1980s forehead tattoo of the word "SKINS".

Next door neighbour and I have agreed that we can give each other's cats treats, so that they get used to different humans and we get to tickle more cats. Her cat Bella now loves me for twenty seconds at a time, then reverts to pure hatred because I smell of enemy cats. Getting there slowly... #Cats

Is it an offensive weapon? Is it jewellery for black metal aficionados? No, it's an assembled Friulmodel cast metal track for a model Sturmtiger. These came together mercifully easily, possibly because I cleaned the pin holes with a 0.75 mm drill bit, not 0.5 mm as instructed. #HistScaleModels

210 cast 1:35 scale track links, drilled and filed, soaking in soapy water. I used not to bother with washing like this, but then I noticed how tiny metal filings get everywhere, and I don't want them on my fingertips or in my eyes. Also good to clean off any gunge from the casting. #HistScaleModels

A box of cast metal track links in 1:35 scale, for building a model Tiger tank. The brand is Friulmodel.A transparent plastic tub, holding hundreds of 1:35 scale model tank track links in a foamy mix of soap and water

Next on the bench, #HistScaleModels - Tamiya's 1:35 Sturmtiger, a present from my brother last Christmas. I haven't built a Tiger chassis in years, so this will be fun. I've gone a bit mad with the after-market PE, and will be re-learning to solder, to assemble cool, gnarly, bent PE fenders.

On a table is a box set of a scale model kit - Tamiya's 1:35 Sturmtiger. Next to it are many after-market accessories for the kit: metal track links; metal Zimmerit plates; metal grilles and metal fender parts. By the side is a soldering iron and a coil of flux.

Bluesky needs a new "FOAD" button, for dealing with kink posts by furries who don't bother to label them as "adult content" (for some reason it's only furries, not other kinks). One button to do "report post for unlabelled adult content" + "report user for unlabelled adult content" + "block user".
