Ok ... but so are your actual posts. So do we just stop social media entirely?
FFS! And then this will mean that much will become inaccessible for blind people as people will stop using it.

Kinda love how the Meta glasses get so much flack for being "pervert glasses". ...No ... the people are the perverts, the glasses just enable them. But then, that is literally the guns rhetoric and that is icky. The whole guns don't kill people, people kill people thing.
What they say: "Accessibility and SEO/AI support/better discovery go hand in hand!" What we hear: "We know accessibility is a drag so here, have a carrot so you actually get better YOURSELF by trying to include more people because FUCK THAT< amirite?!"
Accessibility improvements have the greatest impact when they happen upstream. In an interview with TDT, Mike Gifford discusses inclusive design, upstream contributions, and why accessibility should be part of everyday engineering—not an afterthought. https://bit.ly/4vXkcVW #Accessibility #A11y
Welcoming Web ... please hold while I find the nearest container to void my stomach into
Yet another #accessibility #overlay that introduces WCAG failures just by installing it. Users might not be able to report an accessibility problem. Here, one field is unlabeled (4.1.2 / 1.3.1) and the other is labeled by its placeholder (1.4.3 / 3.3.2). This one offered by Welcoming Web.
ahh but it's all good, the chief accessibility officer at Microsoft said so! Sarcasm aside this is yet another example of not practicing what you preach, and it hits hard. Good luck to everyone impacted :(
I don't know why this leans into AI so hard but this is true for literally ANY product

So many people who aren't blind celebrating the fact an implant/treatment may "restore" sight in blind people. Here's a blind person's take: Really promising for those who want this but some of us actually don't need to be fixed :)
again for those who missed it :)
Fun Fact! People with no sight (fully #blind): - play #videogames - watch #movies - read #books - have #jobs - create #content - #Stream on #Twitch and #Youtube - use BlueSky 😱 Did you know this? If not, ask me anything :P
Yup. We only see the importance when it becomes personal. COVID was shit, but what WAS great was the fact people all of a sudden could make things a lot more accessible because they couldn't do what they wanted otherwise. Covid's gone, so the inconvenience is gone for most. Not for us.
It's times like these where non-blind people realise the importance of alternative text
Very true. Other great candidates for that problem are "Read more", "learn more", "buy now", "this link" and "Open". Sorry, marketing folks, I know verb-noun CTAs are supposed to drive conversion but they really don't work out of context
A11y Tip of the Week: "Click here" tells a screen reader user nothing. Many navigate by pulling up a list of every link on the page, with no surrounding text. A dozen links that all read "Read more" are useless there. Make each link describe where it goes on its own. #a11y
wait ...how? Isn't there a digital refund window?
PlayStation says new physical game discs end Jan 2028. For disabled gamers, that removes a key way to avoid the “disability tax” when a game isn’t accessible. PR/marketing/comms folks: please share; this needs to be seen.

Meta Threads's audio captcha takes you away from the captcha you're solving which means the code is no longer valid when you try to enter it. But sure, tell me more about how they give the blind sight with their glasses. Screw off ... #actuallyBlind#accessibility
I see a lot of people say Meta glasses supposedly "give the blind their vision back". Let me just put that claim to bed once and for all https://www.reddit.com/r/Blind/comments/1u8q2vo/meta_glasses/ This is a lot more clear of a reflection of what they're ACTUALLY like #actuallyBlind
It is really powerful to be able to put a practical spin on what to many is only theory. Would love to do this for more companies
I can do a presentation at work about some CSS that's already a few years old, and blow their minds. I've invited @zersiax.bsky.social on occasion to speak to my colleagues, and just hearing someone use a screenreader and see in real time where the blockers are, also blows their minds. They CARE.
hi there @byobattleship.bsky.social :) I'm a blind content creator/streamer and gave Torment Hexus's first demo a quick look on stream last night. Would love to help out in getting the #accessibility right on this one, have time for a chat? :)
Very cool! I will be streaming my reactions as a fully #blind #gamer in just under 1.5 hours, over at https://twitch.tv/zersiax #accessibility #gaming #blindness
1 hour to go! Come check out the only video game trailer showcase focused on video games accessible to a wide range of disabled gamers. 50+ minutes of trailers for awesome upcoming games, AND info on what accessibility features they support.
Currently working on a #pullRequest to make the Learn section of #lichess #accessible to the #blind . A lot of that website already works great, just not the basic tutorials. fixing :) #a11y #accessibility
Very true :) I did an #AMA on Reddit about the fact I play videogames. The top question: " how?". The fact this is the top question says a lot about where game accessibility is currently at.
in my last r/golang post, a reply I got: > Wow, how did you manage to write so much code while being blind? People with disability are able to do as much as enable people, IF they're in an environment they can be productive in. Think about this when you gave your next interview.
I'll translate this into real people speech: We set up two in-person events during a time where going to the US is iffy, got people to write stuff for us and released a bunch of updates that users have found breakage in. Some things like the FOSS guidance is absolutely good, but let's keep it real.

@ericwbailey.website @feldfrog.bsky.social Do they turn accusative when they sue somebody? That is the big question :P
Are menus and in-game text narrated? Is combat/navigation doable without looking at the screen? Are subtitles and captions available?
It's Global Accessibility Awareness Day! An excellent time to reflect on what unintentional barriers may exist in your game. -Is important information communicated with both visuals and audio? -Are text and icons large and high contrast? -Do your controls avoid mashing and long holds? #GAAD
Hey developers! Just a reminder that we have an extensive guide on #accessibility in our docs. Since it's Global Accessibility Awareness Day, maybe you'll find some good ideas in there on how to make your projects more accessible. Have a look: docs.wagtail.org/en/stable/ad... #GAAD

Yeah ... it's #gaad so there will be GAAD reposts/quotes.
