My holy grail of snacks right now is a cheese I found one time and never again. It was a sharp cheddar with chocolate ribbons mixed through it and it was absolutely amazing. I need to find this again.

I’ve been talking about Millie a lot, but I also lost my bird a couple of weeks after she passed. I had Tiny for 28 years, and I miss hearing him chirp and scream, and the way he filled a room with his presence. He might have been a tiny bird, but he was a big soul, and I miss him a lot.

Well, its heading toward the evening, and the rain seems, for the moment, to be in abatement. The floodwaters have gone down some, but there's still so much work to do to put things back to rights again. Eastern Kentucky has been through so much in the last few years, but we're still here.

Sometime when the world closes in and things feel like absolute shit, at least I can go up on my hill and see this. At least I can say, this is mine. For someone from Appalachia, that means a lot.
