#booksky #bookreview Papillon, Henri Charriere, 1969, 544p, audio 6/10 I thought this one was enjoyable, but too long. We get a LOT of stories about being in prison, escaping, attempting to escape, life as a convict, etc etc. Taken individually, all of the stories are good, but there are so many
#booksky #bookreview Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah, Richard Bach, 1977, 192p 5/10 This one took more than half the book to get going. I didn’t like all of the airplane stuff throughout, I don’t like aviation. That put me off, but I kept going...
#bookreview #booksky The Eight Master Lessons of Nature, Gary Ferguson, 2019, 272p, audio 6.5/10 While I did enjoy this book, it didn’t really make an impact on me. Its been a week since I finished it and I can’t think of anything specific that was discussed.
Anything like this needs to consider the weight of the vehicle. 1000 miles driven by a Civic are very different than 1000 miles driven by an electric Hummer. I would be very supportive of something like this. Also, is this you in the article @alerigolon.bsky.social ?
In an eyebrow raising move, the Utah Taxpayers Association is promoting NYC's "congestion pricing" as something we ought to consider. One powerful lawmaker opposes that but has his own idea that's just as interesting: www.fox13now.com/news/politic... #utpol #Utah
#bookreview #booksky Hey Yang, Where's My Thousand Bucks, Andrew Yang, 2026, 240p 8/10 I’ve real all of Andrew Yang’s books over the years (even ones by people who weren’t “the” Andrew Yang), and I think this is the best written of all of his books. /1
Gonna start referring to Democrats who take anti-trans stances as “Biological Republicans”
I just started re reading the Fart Quest series by Aaron Reynolds illustrated by @camkendell.bsky.social I stand by my opinion that this series is one of the all time greats! I'm looking forward to all the fragrant jokes and adventures! #booksky
#bookreview #booksky Daisy Jones and the Six, Taylor Jenkins Reid, 2019, 355p, audio 2/10 I went in with high hopes for this one because I’ve really liked some of the author’s other books and I’ve had friends tell me good things about this book. /1
@alerigolon.bsky.social do you think big cottonwood canyon is going to be crazy this afternoon? Since fall colors haven't started yet, I think it should be somewhat tame even though it's a holiday weekend
#booksky #bookreview Biological War, Annie Jacobsen, 2026, 426p, audio 7.5/10 I thought this was a good followup to her book Nuclear War. I didn’t find it as compelling as Nuclear war, probably because the whole concept of biological war is a bit more foreign to me. /1
Two high schoolers have to study really hard and make a presentation to try to pass their history class
Make your favorite film sound as boring as possible without giving away the title: A chief technology officer is worried about keeping his spreadsheets private.
#bookshy #bookreview Imagine the God of Heaven, John Burke, 2023, 320p Did not finish I read about half of this, but it was just too preachy for me. It is personal accounts mingled with tons of trying to prove Christianity by trying to prove the Bible is true. /1
#booksky #bookreview Hekate, Nikita Gill, 2025, 348p, audio Did not finish I had a really hard time getting into this one. I listened to about 75% of it, but I was constantly zoning out. It may have been because of the narrator’s strong British accent.
Dems need to be cost that every acre of protected land will be protected again as soon as possible with no economic consideration for those logging/mining/exploring. Economic uncertainty is the only way to left to protect the land
The Forest Service is eliminating protections for the 9 million undeveloped acres within the Tongass, as well as millions more acres of pristine wilderness across the rest of the United States.
#bookreview #booksky Do Aliens Speak Physics, Daniel Whiteson, Andy Warner, 2025, 272p 6/10 I enjoyed this book, when I understood what it was saying. I think I am fairly well versed, for a lay person, with modern physics, but I had such a hard time keeping up with it. /1
#booksky #bookreview Replay, Ken Grimwood, 310p, 1987, audio 6.5/10 I liked the premise of this book. It was an enjoyable read that kept moving pretty quickly and kept me engaged. The ending, however, didn’t really seem like an ending; /1
#bookreview #booksky The Four Hour School Day, Durenda Wilson, 2021, 224p, audio 2/10 The title of the book is summed up in a sentence or two. If you home school, you can give more direct instruction and teach your kids in less time each day. /1
I think we're both big advocates of rail, this is an interesting episode for why buses are often the proper solution pca.st/episode/b591... @alerigolon.bsky.social

@alerigolon.bsky.social congrats on the check. You're a bigger deal than I realized. 😜
@alerigolon.bsky.social you probably already saw it, but here is a good article about where we are for heat this July www.sltrib.com/news/2026/07...
