A typical carnivore enrichment for wolverine Laura! This deer leg enrichment encourages wolverines to climb, pull, and problem solve, like they would in the wild. Enrichment helps keep animals mentally and physically engaged. Deer leg donated by Idaho Fish and Game. 📽️: Assistant Curator Michelle

Happy International Tiger Day to Akasha! Zoo Boise's 16-year-old Amur tiger is the biggest of our big cats and a perfect ambassador for her endangered species. Just by visiting her, you're helping protect wild tigers around the globe.
Big news! We have two new penguin chicks! Both chicks hatched on May 26 to parents Kusi & Bocelli and Lois & Puddin. They aren’t currently viewable to the public. For now, they're behind the scenes learning skills like swimming. Stay tuned for when you'll be able to see them! 🎥: Zookeeper Kailynn
Relaxing with patas monkey Moka. Unlike many other monkeys, patas monkeys prefer running over climbing. They are the fastest primates in the world, able to sprint up to 34 miles per hour! 📷: Membership Coordinator Morgan

Whoa, it's Akasha!! Caturday snuck up on us this week. In the wild, Amur tigers like her are known as silent and patient hunters who can stalk prey for 30 minutes before finally pouncing. 📷: Zookeeper Taylor S

Thank you for sending all of the good vibes to giraffe Jabari. His comprehensive health exam is complete, and he is recovering under the watchful eye of zoo veterinary and animal care teams. Rest assured we will share additional info on his ongoing care plan in the coming weeks. 📷: Zookeeper Emily
It's National Zookeeper Week! While you enjoy seeing our animals, a dedicated team of zookeepers works behind the scenes every day to ensure they receive exceptional care. This work begins before the zoo opens and continues after guests go home. This photo is just a portion of our incredible team.
Sure, you've probably taken a catnap... but why let the felines have all the fun? Let's make "dognap" the new way to take a quick, refreshing rest! 💤 📷: African wild dog Dax sleeping in the sun

It's butterfly season at Zoo Boise! 🦋🦋 Our Butterflies in Bloom walkthrough greenhouse is full of hundreds of colorful and exotic butterflies. Fun tip: If you want a butterfly to land on you, wear brightly colored clothes or floral patterns.
Get to know Jay, Zoo Boise's new Linne's two-toed sloth! He may look sleepy, and that's because sloths spend 15-20 hours a day sleeping. Jay enjoys treats like apples during training, but most of the day you'll find him relaxing, stretching, or enjoying a snack in his favorite hammock.
Harry's webbed feet and claws give him a perfect combination for catching fish. Spotted-necked otters like him can easily grab, hold, and eat with these unique paws. 📷: Zookeeper Murphy

Zoo Boise is committed to providing exceptional, compassionate care for every animal. That care becomes specialized as animals age, which is the case for Sabu. Our 12-year-old snow leopard is currently receiving treatment for several age-related conditions. Full story: zooboise.org/zoo-news/sno...
Why does Mr. Mac get all the attention online? Let's show some love for our female Aldabra tortoise: Ms. Mac!! She's the second oldest animal [over 75 years old!] at Zoo Boise and has lived here since 1991. 📷: Zookeeper Taylor T
Zoo Boise welcomes a new red panda! This five-year-old female Himalayan red panda has been matched with Pumori as a Species Survival Plan recommendation. Zookeepers describe her as friendly and a great fit for Pumori. Introductions have begun, so you may see them together! 📷: Keeper Taylor S
Have you met wolverine Laura yet? She is most active (and playful!) when Zoo Boise first opens and again right before closing. Like all the animals at Zoo Boise, she has the choice of where to spend her time. If you don’t see her at first, please check again later. 📷: Zookeeper Taylor S

It’s a boy! 🔵 Animal care staff recently confirmed that the meerkat pup born in December is male. Due to injury that happened during birth, zoo staff made the difficult decision to amputate one of our meerkat pup’s limbs. Don’t worry, he healed quickly and is able to keep up with his entire family.
