Nature’s first green is gold, Her hardest hue to hold. Her early leaf’s a flower; But only so an hour. Then leaf subsides to leaf. So Eden sank to grief, So dawn goes down to day. Nothing gold can stay. -R Frost

The lavender and lavandin on my ”Experimental mound” is doing so well I’m contemplating expanding. Bumblebees and butterflies like them, and they bridge a gap in flowering plants in the garden.

Revisiting the garden at Vandalorum art museum, in Värnamo, Sweden. Designed by Piet Oudolf in 2022. The first phase was finalized in 2023 and the second in 2025.

Since I can’t sleep, here’s another hot take: The world would be a better place if everyone‘s science literacy was much better. There should be more emphasis on teaching basic science at all levels in school. Science isn’t just something nerds do, it’s the foundation of the modern world.

Some perspective: The S&P opened down -1.3% on Trump's Greenland saber-rattling. That's $750 billion of wealth destroyed -- roughly equal to estimates of the value of Greenland. And so ~in dollar terms~ his shenanigans have already cost the US one Greenland, and we've got nothing to show for it.
