I taught this story in credit recovery English 9 this year and we had so many interesting discussions about our own technology. We also read the Veldt, which takes it a step further. Watching kids heads explode as they realize what's going on is my favorite part of teaching.

This is your reminder that whenever the Blazers organization complains that someone else is wielding something (like a lawsuit) as a weapon, that's called "leverage" and the Blazers probably would like to eliminate that leverage. And they'd probably also be happy to use any such leverage themselves.

Having a little cognitive dissonance here. In my mind, a 90s diner is just a 70s diner that is really run down and on the verge of bankruptcy but is open 24h and still has a smoking section and an impossible claw machine by the register.

the nostalgia diner industry should have aged past the 50s. I should be able to go to an era-accurate 90s diner, served a room temp Fruitopia by staff in babydoll dresses, there should be a Street Fighter 2 Championship Edition machine against the wall. They could sell Desert Storm trading cards.
