I'll tell you something, which won't immediately seem related to Revolver. When I was 16, I still hadn't caught the bus into town on my own. Scared of the interaction with the driver - what if it goes wrong? What if I forget what the coins mean? & everyone on the bus is basically your audience.

In the middle ground, on the right, three very tall trees with very thin trunks rise up into the sky, each ending in a big stylised ball of leaves, each one pink, blue or yellow. A similar cluster of trees is in the background on the left. In the sky, a small black moon floats. The sky itself is a huge yellow cloud on the horizon, behind which is blue fading up to yellow. Hanging down from the sky, in the foreground, is a pink, yellow and blue striped chrysalis. At the bottom of this (or top, since it's upside down) we can see a woman's face, smiling and asleep through a head-shaped hole.

New picture!

Ink drawing with pencil colours on green paper. Green sky, full of huge rather globular looking clouds, all of which are dark green but with white outlines. Below this we have a stretch of dark green, white and light green striped ground and some similarly striped hills. Up in the sky, in front of the clouds, we see a hot air balloon, tilting a little to the left. It is red and we can see two tiny people in the basket. Circling the balloon is a gigantic seagull with a huge green eye. It's beak is snapping at the people and its body tapers away to nothing rather than have a normal bird backend. The bird is also wearing a medal, the chain of which is really quite long, so the medal is just swinging about.

New picture...

Ink drawing with pencil colours on white paper. A rare indoor picture! In front of us we have a very reflective floor at the bottom, tall walls either side and the back wall of this room in the middle. It's a very big room as evidenced by the several people we can see stood here - all very small and just silhouettes. The back wall is blue, while the side walls are blue, pink and yellow striped. The focal point of the picture is hanging on the back wall. It's a circular picture of a face and it's about five times the height of the people stood looking up at it. The face is bright white, has big blue eyes, black mascara and light blue lips. The eyes are looking at us. The face has a thin pink frame. And it's possible the face is somehow alive. Under the massive picture is a dark blue bow tie in the wall. Everything is reflected in the mirrory floor.

Black jacket, checked shirt, long neck, short neat black side parted hair, brown eyes, mascara and bright red lipstick. Stood on top of their head is a rather abstract bird, the body and head of which is kind of boomerang-shaped. It has long, spindly legs. It is mainly purple, with a blue wing and blue, brown and red tail feathers. It has a big, round eye facing us and its open beak is right at the top of the head. Set up on its back is a little microphone, which the bird seems to be singing into. In the background, a red, white, brown, purple and blue striped ground, and a couple of red hills populated by thin, leafless trees.

To the many pictures in art history depicting a struggle for survival, I would like to add this work of an enormous lion attacking a bus with a few people on board.

Ink drawing with pencil colours on white paper. An utterly miserable day. Rain pelting it down on a quiet country road. The sky is white, the road is white, reflecting the sky and a grey smear of vague pathway devides the two. Ghostly trees can just about be glimpsed in the gloom. Coming down the road is a red double decker bus, the No.51. Its lights are on and it send rain shooting off the road. We can see the driver and a few people silhouetted inside. As if the day wasn't miserable enough, a huge lion has leapt on top of the bus. It is longer than the vehicle and its back legs and tail trail behind. Its front legs hold onto the front of the bus in almost a hug, and it sinks its teeth through the top, cracking the window. The lion is various shades of yellow, and stripey on its torso - its long, flappy mane is bright orange. On the side of the bus is an advert: "fill your lungs with heaven! Jackdaw's Spectacular." And there is a little cartoon jackdaw smoking a cigarette. Alas, very few people on board will survive to tell the tale to others, punctuated by drags on a Jackson's Spectacular.

A highly stylised and realistically impossible arm chair sits on the yellow paper with no background except its own long blue shadow. The chair is very high-backed and the back is shaped like if you drew the simple outline of someone's head and shoulders and then just used the left hand side. The sides of the chair are thin and wavy. The arms are shaped like simple horns, tapering away to nothing. The chair stands on three thin legs, two at the front, one at the back. On one of the chair arms, an abstract red squirrel (more orange really) sits, sideways on but with both eyes on this side, one a little higher than the other. It is sat in classic squirrel-eating-a-nut pose, but there's no nut, it's a tiny skull in its paws. Sticking out of the top of the chair's back is the right side of a woman's face, large eye closed, red lips. The left side of the face - with eye open - can be seen sticking out of the back of the chair, bathed in the blue shadow.

Her face sags a little, she has thick black-framed glasses and tall, pink hair, like a cloud on its side. Her arm is pink and gold striped and leads to her hand resting on her pet's neck. This arm and her head are the only bits of the woman drawn. The pet: a large, sort of feline creature. Head a bit like a cheetah, but stretched out at each side. Blue eyes. The head floats and there is a gap of about a foot before the cat's body starts. It has two front legs and then the body tapers away and curves down to a tiny point touching the ground. At this point, its tail curves into the air like a question mark. The cat is gold, yellow and blue striped - its tail is also these colours, but fading from one to the other. A hand rises up behind the cats head (it might be the woman's other hand actually) and hold aloft the rather stern looking head of a large, oldish man. Double chin. Dot eyes. Tuft of white hair. Pink paper crown from a cracker. What is presumably his body stands on the right of the picture. Smart pink suit, gold patterned waistcoat, pink and yellow tie. Out of the neck hole of the body / outfit rises a tree. Black, thin trunk, dividing into a few branches, holding up pink, candyfloss like clumps of leaves, which sort of mirrors the woman's tall hair. In the tree, two very small, silhouette owls with long legs stand. Glowing yellow eyes. A few birds can be seen in the sky too, in the time-honoured way of just drawing 'v' shapes.

Good morning, new drawning:

The background one is topped by tall conifers. In the foreground, a strange creature sits facing slightly away from us, and is sat like cats do, sort of all tucked in, and they look like a tea cosy. It is striped with white and two shades of green. It's head has a spike on top, a long thin nose and a big eye. And on the creature sits a young lady, rather abstractly drawn, wearing a tall, glass top hat, full of a purple drink of some sort. There's a tap on the side and she is holding up a glass to it. The other arm is turning on the tap, and this arm is somehow coming out of the top hat rather than connected to the person. She has long white blonde hair and wears a red, yellow and blue striped dress - and if that hair/dress combination of things seems familiar, it's pretty much Carol Cleveland's look for her first appearance on Monty Python's Flying Circus.

Bauble-like eye. Long, tapering body and slightly elastic, long limbs. No mouth evident. The back of the head and the limbs are striped. The colours for this wolf are: burnt orange, dark brown, beige, dark green and a bit of turquoise, which is the colour palette for the sleeve art of The Beatles' Rubber Soul album.

New picture. An owl. Sort of.

Ink drawing with pencil colours on green paper. It is indeed a sort of owl, in flight. No background, just green. The owl is flying from right to left. Now then. This isn't the easiest thing to describe. The owl body is horizontal, and the front of the owl is sort of like a loaf of bread - its face is flat, white, two little humps at the top, tiny eyes and a tiny beak. From there, the body carries on backwards initially the same size as the face but then tapers away till the end of it is tiny. Under the face, hanging by a hinge, is a sort-of face cover, not in use at the moment, the same size and shape as the owl's face, and with eye holes at the right points. The owl's body is dark blue, fading up to light green with a white streak of light across the top. The wings are the same blue, but each feather fades to a bright pink as it goes along.

Jaws can now fly. No plot. We just see various scenarios - a child's party, a funeral, a meeting at the bank, a minor disagreement in a cafe etc, where, after a minute or so, Jaws just crashes gracelessly in and causes absolute carnage.

Had a dream last night that Christopher Nolan had made a film where Bjork & some cats fall back through time to the Second World War and defeat the Nazis whilst they are *all* drunk on champagne on a farm. It was amazing. Genuinely disappointed to wake up and realise it doesn't exist. Stupid dreams.

Emma Kneller. She was our English teacher *and* Drama teacher and she was brilliant. Me and a friend used to write / film ridiculous sketches at school and she encouraged us & happily took part in a couple. Last I heard, she was a teacher in New Zealand. I hope she's having the best of times.
