I worry a bit about how much “it struggles early in the event” i’ve heard across conferences this week. Not all forecasts and forecast hours are equal. Going from no event to event is decidedly the most valuable part of forecasting. It’s of course also the hardest especially with data cuts.
There’s no such thing as a 75% chance of colo beating Tampa if it’s only in the 4-5 inning.

While AWOS sittings and maintenance are egregiously poor in many circumstances, they are sometimes not too far off from being representative. AKA, even a blind pig occasionally finds the trough. 😄

I have less idea of what fouls are in soccer than what catches and holding are in football. Like, these guys are out drilling each other all day long while running 6-10 miles in the heat.
I went to a mediocre rom-com called “the intern” one time on cheap movie Tuesday. For some reason i picked a popular showing. Room was filled with young women, lot of teenagers. Anders Holm played this “perfect home-husband” type…. until he wasn’t. Those girls in that room were MAD.

My takeaway from this week is once again that “flash” has a lot of widely differing meanings during floods. It’s hard to know what the differences are in real time without actually being under the rain, too.

I finally asked my mom (I couldn't remember), and she told me it was The Lost Boys when I was roughly the same age as my daughter (about 9). The movie traumatized her more than it did me, apparently
Lol. I applied for a lot pf science writing jobs last year. I found one that is tucked quietly away from the public. I still look at what gets produced nationally and internationally, though. AI science graphics can be a lot of fun for a non-designer but they’re so dangerous in unqualified hands.

I read the Hobbit in high school. Sophomore year maybe. I think that’s a good age to read it. Remains the only book that literally took my brain and put it into a movie. I legitimately forgot that I was reading.

I love this movie but in terms of “that’s not quite science,” ocean’s 11 idea of what an EMP would do to vegas is juuuust a bit off the mark. It’s not a giant lightning strike.
