First week at my new hospital done. Very friendly. Very busy. Lots of people still to meet! #NewJob #NewChallenges

Lapsed Nephrologist, Active Acute Physician Quality Improvement and Patient Safety dabbles a bit in musical theatre.....
Wicked with my small one. I love that I get to do all the things child me dreamed of.... #Wicked #MusicalTheatre
2024 hasn't been my favourite year but I'm sure there is goodness to come. Here's a scratch band in Carrbrook from today, to raise a festive smile #BrassBand #MerryChristmas
As a passionate believer in #QualityImprovement, one thing that makes me sad is when organisations start doing things purely for the sake of regulators. Crib sheets for CQC inspections or couching change as "To address regulator feedback". We should do things because they are right for patients.
So, it seems once more I am in a situation. I am to fulfil my raging desire to play a "baddie" & have been cast as Queen Rat in a forthcoming pantomime. A part made for me. Or so I thought. I now realise I have not dedicated enough of my life to my maniacal evil laugh. Send evil laugh ideas....
So we've reached a point where the cat hates all the food I offer. We follow this charade periodically though he's very upset right now. He keeps taking me to the door miaowing fiercely. I think he wants to take me hunting in the woods to improve things. Maybe if it snows tomorrow we will go....
One of the pleasures of starting here is the chance to widen my horizons. Among the familiar faces are new people with different perspectives - despite the accusations of echo chamber. I'm really valuing the interactions.
If you are showing an interest in the upcoming assisted dying bill - you must also read this #NCEPOD report into End of Life Care published this week…. ncepod.org.uk/2024eolc/Ful...
Its #Tapathon time. Our dance school is doing a simultaneous dance with many others in a #WorldRecord attempt. Pretty sure we fail every year but the small loves it & raises money for #ChildrenInNeed #UsualWeekendChaos
I will NEVER stop advocating for vaccines. For the vast majority history, childhood diseases meant 50%+ of our kids would die before aged 5. Now, for the first time in the history of humanity, the loss of a child through disease at that age is a tragic rarity. AND YET SOMEHOW PEOPLE ARE ANTIVAX!?
So I asked to go on a list, & now have followers. But I think I've forgotten how to do this - so little engagement in the bad place my impostor has crept back! Not sure who my SoMe self is - but start a new post in Jan so maybe it will be the challenges of mid career change. Til then, a cat...
In the spirit of Confelicity: share something with me that makes you happy or a success youd like to share
Good morning. Word of the Day is as beautiful as it is underused. ‘Confelicity’ is finding joy in the happiness and success of others.
Once again, it was a privilege to contribute to the #NCEPOD review of #EndOfLifeCare: Planning for the End. www.ncepod.org.uk/2024eolc.html I saw how diagnosis impacted the recognition of dying. Parallel planning is essential where outcomes are uncertain. #EOLC #PlanningForTheEnd
NCEPOD - End of Life Care: (2024)
The National Confidential Enquiry into Patient Outcome and Death (NCEPOD) reviews clinical practice and identifies potentially remediable factors in the practice of patient care.

Behold, the magnificent hunter explores his domain. And wonders how he came to be named..... Sprinkles..
As an antidote to sadness and the mild tinge of burnout, last week I did my first show with my daughter. We were in Nativity! The Musical & had a blast. She had some solos and got to play Mary. I got to wear silly costumes and play multiple characters. Definitely reccomend some light escapism!
Slowly transitioning myself over here. I only used the cursed place for work and football. #medsky looks promising, I need a plan B for the soccer. Just need to find my tribe now. Any #QI #QualityImprovement peeps welcome
