It is so hard for me to watch a movie anymore because I tend to just fall asleep. Is this an age thing or just a me thing?

I think my wife is getting sick of me taking about Book of the New Sun. #booksky
BRB. Gonna go invent the Pringles machine and write the most complex sci-fi epic the world has ever seen.
Would anybody be interested in doing a virtual book club for the Book of the New Sun by Gene Wolfe? #booksky
I just started Sword of the Lictor, and I have to say that I have never read anything like the Book of the New Sun. If you like bleak sci-fi that makes you as a reader work hard (niche, I know), you have got to read this series.

So I've been wanting to write a sci-fi story about a planet that gets tidaly locked to its star after a cataclysm and the societal tensions that ensue. I have literally started working on simulation software to make sure the cataclysm is physically plausible. Does that mean I get a new nerd badge?
I am reading The Book of the New Sun by Gene Wolfe, and I don't think I have ever had to go through a work of modern fiction this slowly. It's rewarding, but it's a challenging read! #booksky

Alt: A clip from Arrested Development where Gob and Lindsay Bluth are doing extremely unrealistic impressions of chickens in front of their brother Michael. Michael looks unimpressed.

Are online book clubs a thing? I really want to join a book club, but my in-person options are limited.
A few have suggested that some aspects of this mission--joy, international teamwork, diversity--are being played up to stick it to the hateful attitude of the administration. But I don't think it's that. I think it's just that those things are essential to and inseparable from a mission like this.

I know I'm a little late to the party, but I'm firmly in the "Angine de Poitrine is pretty great, actually" camp.
As a Christian, I don't think federal agencies should be referring to "Christ, our Savior" in any context. I don't need my government to validate my faith. That's why it's called faith. More importantly, my government shouldn't be invalidating the religions of other Americans.
I find myself with a significantly larger block of free time than I usually have, and I'm going to do the only logical thing: Learn OCaml.
More context on this #Artemis II image: * This is the night side, lit by moonlight. You can see city lights in Spain & Portugal, & a sliver of day at lower right * The Sun is entirely behind Earth, which makes it a kind of solar eclipse, but w/ Earth doing the eclipsing instead of the Moon: ☀️🌍🚀🌕

11YO: How do you remove all the acid from your body? Me: You drink pumpkin spice lattes. ... Because YA BASIC! Wife: 🙄
I am working on a research language that is designed primarily for LLMs to read and write and for humans to review. It seems like this is the direction the software industry is headed, so why not lean into the idea?
I appreciate beautiful application design with thoughtful use of color, but I honestly prefer spartan monochrome UIs most of the time.
After literally months of wanting to plan and track my workouts better, I finally did it! I have reference sheets for warm-ups and cool-downs as well as weekly workouts with progressions and a monthly tracking sheet.
