i've taken up doing one of the exercises in Le Guin's Steering the Craft daily and i highly recommend it. some take a few airy minutes and some feel nearly impossible (and i bet, like any other workout, which ones each person experiences which way is quite individual), but it's an excellent routine
well that's an interesting thing to put in just a facebook group and not send out to the membership or post anywhere else i can see (somebody who has threads check threads? i'm not touching twitter sorry)
i don't have anything clever to add about the hwa mess but i did peek over at the facebook wasteland where the author posted this, uh, defense. we're all bullies, because it's the wild west, and see we're all proving her point, and who really understands ai, fuckin magnets how do they work amirite?

just made the last appointment for the poor cat. his cancer's gotten much worse in the last few weeks, he's been in a cone for weeks and he's still managing to hurt himself constantly, he's losing weight and energy, but he's only 12 and still enjoying his silly little life. making the call sucks
we require everyone's gay dollars please process them here (if you have straight dollars we will take them as well but the exchange rate is weird so you should give us twice as many)

actually a delight to see DCC honestly critiqued on its merits and lack thereof instead of lazy "cringe, cringe, all of you are cringe!" AND acknowledgement that antimemetics is just as derivative and internet poisoned. (also, "anarcho-syndicalist revolt against the system" is... prescient)
Oh, look! It’s @chloroformtea.bsky.social and me, hacking our way through this year’s Clarke Award shortlist. Which niche British references do we employ? Which random GIFs? And … why Tom Cruise? Also, careful critique of a set of six texts claimed by the judges to represent the best of UK SF etc

rumination born from a discussion with a friend about an indie that got a trad pub pickup with very little editorial support. as we were griping about this disservice to everyone, she made the point that it could have easily been restructured to have a traditional novel structure. and. yeah. but why
