Here's a question for the literary-minded among you for a project I'm working on: what is the worst novel written by a great author? I'm thinking of examples of where everyone - particularly at the time - went, "ooh, swing and a miss there." Juvenilia not included; reputation has to be established.

I don’t think there’s a TV show I’d ever want to watch less than TED LASSO, even when it was *good* people made it sound like agony.

CRIMSON GOLD: The crime genre is fertile ground for ruminations on class disparity and Panahi masterfully excavates every bit of it. The pain and rage that comes with pining for a privileged life that powers this film comes straight from Dickens. Has one of the greatest opening shots you’ll see.

There are a lot of reasons not to like the kid. Here is another one. A good way to judge a really stupid baseball person is if they argue Ruth wouldn’t be much today.

I just keep coming back to one question: If being 2 1/2 games out of a playoff berth with 51 games left is a selling position, what is the value of that playoff berth? Why are we letting 40% of the teams into the playoffs, deeply undermining the regular season, if this is how teams act?

mlbpa is the strongest union in sports and they will agree to a cap right around the time the sun goes supernova.

Anyone who thinks the other owners are operating in good faith in their calls for a cap are delusional. Even with a cap they’ll continue to be skinflints. The NFL and NBA have caps and both leagues have a dozen teams who operate this way.

Very much looking forward to the Scorsese series on BC not just because he’s my favorite director but listening to Griffin evangelize Pixar for the past 6 weeks has been a tad exhausting and I’m glad to move off it.
