One of most heartbreaking things about Hank Green turning to LLMs is that he gets to do science communication full-time to a massive audience and is well-resourced. He doesn't need to cut corners or outsource his thinking. Meanwhile, there are so many people doing amazing work with zero resources.

Update: first attempt had failures, I’m coming on with another attempt later this month. I need to fix the stitching and go with a gluing method that has fewer fumes. Renia Aquilim 315 should do the trick.

I’m nervous and excited. Tomorrow I will be constructing an experimental cup sole for my sneaker. It’s my own design inspired by a rubber cup sole, but using a technique involving leather strapping. No idea how well it will hold up. If it works, it’s basically a way to Goodyear welt it.

Ryan Stollar has died. As a child liberation theologian and a longtime advocate for survivors of childhood abuse & religious trauma, Ryan was a light to many. He made the world a better place and will be profoundly missed. I am heartbroken. May he rest in peace.
