still one of my favourite art styles from any cartoon. Yuzo Aoki supremacy

I hate that storyboards have become expected to be final clean animation poses with breakdowns in perfect perspective. this is not how it was supposed to be. let the animators animate! (I say as both a boarder and an animator)
I love how the previous generations of storyboard artists were allowed to draw silly cartoon characters on flat wobbly backgrounds, but now we have to learn how to draw the most realistic anime proportions and perspective ever to even be considered for a job

learning a new language you realize how mundane a lot of things are. "I wonder what the sign on that flower shop says... oh it just literally says flower shop"
I finally read Taiyo Matsumoto's Tekkonkinkreet manga. I loved the film version and his later manga but this was my first time seeing his early style. He got more refined later on, but even here there's a sense of total confidence and naturalism.
Sublo and Tangy Mustard and Katy and Bugs and Daffy and Shin-chan and Bart and friends
finally saw this for the first time! I had heard it was a powerful portrait of a man standing up to authority under oppressive circumstances... but nobody told me his main move is to eat FIFTY FUCKING EGGS

Rest in Peace to The Joker. True, we didn't agree on everything — he was hellbent on poisoning the reservoir and killing us all, whereas I personally did not want that — but he was always jovial in spirit, if not intent. Thoughts and condolences to his various clown-themed henchmen.
What I’ll remember most about Senator Graham was his sense of humor and how he deployed it to move his policy positions forward. Though we did not often agree, Senator Graham was never disagreeable.
went to the Nirvanna The Band The Show The Movie screening at the Revue Cinema and Matt and Jay were there to intro the movie, pretty cool
he also does great accent work in an early 90s film I saw called The Flintstones where he played a guy named Fred Flintstone, he nails the caveman patois
Im rewatching the Coen Bros v of The Odyssey (O Brothet Where Are Thou) and I would take a gd bullet for John Goodman the way he honors and elevates southern accents compared to so many pisspoor performances from hollywood regarding the south.
finally saw No Other Choice and liked it a lot! didn't know much other than that it was well-received, but I'm pleasantly surprised at how funny it is. I like the bit where the music is too loud.
oh I forgot to say it on here but I've been boarding more Sublo and Tangy Mustard, the immediate next episode is already boarded but I'm doing the one after to build up a buffer again. more details at www.patreon.com/aaronlong
"death of the audience" is genuinely unironically good advice for anyone who wants to make anything
That's enough Death of the Author. It's time for Death of the Audience. Start running fools
Many artists complain of an inner critic in their heads while they draw, but I have an inner @aaronlong.bsky.social in my brain sayin stuff like "stop making that so clean! Thats not indie, thats studio-system brain rot! The drawing is good, move on! No dont shade it"! I respect my inner Aaron
Sublo & Tangy Mustard A goofy slice of life starring two sub shop coworkers that slowly evolves into topics of stagnation, unfulfilled dreams, and fear of the future. Not only is the animation incredibly loose and fun, the voice acting is great, and its able to balance funny and serious very well
