I am incredibly proud of our negotiation committee for advocating with such determination on our behalf. This victory has been 625 days in the making! I’m pleased that both the Society and the Guild could reach an agreement that includes such important protections for our members!

It’s official! Members of the Science News Media ratified their first contract. 🎉 🎊 Together, we won: ✅ Guaranteed cost-of-living raises ✅ Separate sick leave ✅ Equity raises for some employees ✅ Just-cause rights ✅ Paid parental leave of 6 weeks

All I want for Christmas is a fair contract but the @society4science.bsky.social is dragging their feet and now says they won't give us a proposal until next year. Our CEO gets huge raises far in excess of many guild members' salaries. Meanwhile, many of us are struggling to make ends meet.

In 2024, @society4science.bsky.social CEO @mayaajmera.bsky.social received a $79,875 salary increase. Meanwhile, Monday will mark 600 days since we started negotiating with the Society. We get that the font is a bit small. So feel free to read the entire filing here: shorturl.at/8aMAZ

500+ days is WAY too long to be waiting on a fair contract. Workers continue to lose money. Be sure to sign SNMG's petition! actionnetwork.org/petitions/fo...

This is @mayaajmera.bsky.social, CEO of @society4science.bsky.social. Our workers have been negotiating for over 500 days for a fair contract that includes work-life balance, pay equity and transparency. 📢 Tell Maya that it's time for a FAIR CONTRACT NOW! Help our cause by signing our petition. ⬇️

A fair contract would be 🎶 to our ears. We started negotiations with @society4science.bsky.social 468 days ago, & are still being met with silence when it comes to transparent and equitable pay. @sn-media-guild.bsky.social is keeping this show alive! Help our cause by ✍️ our petition below!

Proud to stand with my union, @sn-media-guild.bsky.social. After 420 days of bargaining, we’re still fighting for a #faircontract. In an era of growing mistrust in science, our work matters. Support our efforts by signing the petition below! ✍️📷✊ #FairContractNow #UnionStrong #science

Sign our petition to let @society4science.bsky.social @mayaajmera.bsky.social know you stand with us! We just want management to value our work as much as we value its mission to inform, educate and inspire. A #faircontract shouldn't take over a year to negotiate! actionnetwork.org/petitions/fo...

It’s disheartening that @sn-media-guild.bsky.social has been negotiating for over a year without a fair contract, especially as living costs continue to rise. Staff shouldn’t struggle while top executives at @society4science.bsky.social continue to receive exorbitant raises. #laborrights #union

This week we're talking pay. For years our employees have received annual raises that lag behind the rising cost-of-living. Meanwhile, our CEO @mayaajmera.bsky.social has been getting raises as large as some employees’ entire salaries! We deserve fair pay, @society4science.bsky.social. #worthmore

🚨 It's finally here! 🚨 I’m excited to share my latest for @snexplores.bsky.social. 1.5 years in the making, this feature dives into the discoveries that helped show why birds are our last remaining dinosaurs. Twiggy the Barred Owl & I are sure you'll learn a thing or two about birds! 🦉

Dinosaurs are still alive. Today, we call them birds

Birds don’t look like the scaly giants of Jurassic World. But fossils are revealing how these modern-day dinosaurs descended from ancient reptiles.

Science fiction makes space travel look easy. But real spacecraft would need an extra boost to find the force for interstellar travel. Still, emerging propulsion methods could brighten the future of interstellar travel. My latest for @snexplores.bsky.social! www.snexplores.org/article/spac...

Spacecraft need an extra boost to travel between stars

Star Wars makes space travel look easy by breaking the laws of physics. Off-screen, the technology for spacecraft to reach other worlds doesn’t exist yet.
