She's really starting to remind me of Anthony Weiner; a backbench Democrat representative who built an aggressive media personality into a national following and then completely fell apart when exposed to scrutiny, due to being an overweening narcissist without any deeper loyalties.

Will only become more and more true— one of the many reasons why I don't filter my perception of the Palestine question thru left vs liberal factionalism is because the actually pertinent divide is establishment vs anti establishment. But the establishment is facing immense pressure to concede here.

BTW just as an aside, what do people think the respondent trends will look like in, say, May 2027 when Kamala Harris is running a
presidential campaign that co-opts much of the CVH/Mamdani language on Palestine

#StupidSuez @diplomatofnigh... • 8d l've tried to convey this before, but public opinion and elite opinion are actually to some degree symbiotic to one another, for example Mamdani was elected (in part) because he was the most compatible person to the base's underlying sentiment and its trend, but his election also accelerated it.

The legitimization of certain terms, ideas, frameworks, etcetera by even more mainstream figures will only further cement them in the
consciousness of Democratic voters as "reasonable" "moderate" "centrist" etc.

💢 The Resistance Calls Israel’s Bluff

Dr. Sami Al-Arian tells Jeremy Scahill that Palestinian factions accepted a deeply contentious weapons decommissioning roadmap to put Israel, the Trump-led Board of Peace, regional mediators, and the broader international community on the spot.

“It was a bitter pill to swallow,” he said, but Gaza’s resistance was under immense pressure as Israel continued daily attacks and refused to allow the entry of aid and relief promised under the ceasefire.

The “resistance decided to call their bluff,” Al-Arian says, because the deal, if enforced, would halt attacks, end Israel’s permanent presence in Gaza, and end the threat of expulsion.

The decisive principle of the offer was reciprocity: weapons would be relinquished gradually if Israel withdrew and guarantors enforced the deal.

Israel’s rejection of the deal came within 24 hours.

At the mass funeral for 112 members of the Al-Hasayna and Abu Sharia families, Fares Affana, director of ambulance and emergency services for Civil Defense in northern Gaza, told Drop Site that Israeli attacks had systematically destroyed Gaza’s rescue system, leaving crews unable to save people trapped beneath collapsed homes throughout nearly three years of genocidal war.

Civil Defense crews spent 17 days searching the ruins of a flattened residential block in Gaza City’s Sabra neighborhood, recovering skeletal remains from beneath the crushed concrete in an intensive operation that concluded this past weekend.

“They remained trapped for days until they were killed,” Affana told Drop Site contributor Abdel Qader Sabbah.

The massacre was not an isolated crime, but one of hundreds carried out against Palestinian families, many of which have been erased entirely from the civil registry, he added.

Affana said that despite the destruction of ambulances and rescue vehicles, crews continue working “with almost nothing.” But, the system could be forced to stop operating at any moment, he told Drop Site.

🎥 The “Ceasefire” Israel Keeps Violating

Jeremy Scahill breaks down the Sharm el-Sheikh deal signed last October, which required Israel to withdraw in phases, allow reconstruction, and permit 600 aid trucks into Gaza daily.

Instead, while the Palestinian side “has overwhelmingly complied with every single aspect,” Israel “has violated every single aspect,” killing more than 1,250 Palestinians since the ceasefire began, more than the number of Israelis killed on October 7.
