Our latest work is out @natecoevo.nature.com! We revisit a classic: Are interactions more specialised towards the tropics?🌻🪰 Great to lead this with @robtrop.bsky.social, and our coauthors across the world! Grateful for their collaboration🥳, and hope to continue working with this amazing community!

New study published in @natecoevo.nature.com ! We assembled the largest global dataset of plant–pollinator networks to ask a simple question: do interactions become more specialised towards the tropics? doi.org/10.1038/s415... Study led by @saileesakhalkar.bsky.social and myself ☺️ 1/8

Exciting times both professionally and personally - we're moving to Mainz as I am starting a professorship in September! Thank you to the Wübben foundation @w-s-w.org for the amazing support. Really looking forward to the work and life adventures to come! (1/3)

New preprint just online, led by Fay Frost and me: comparing the thermal sensitivity of 300+ invertebrate life history traits shows that reproduction is more sensitive than lifespan to warming. Studies focusing on survival may be underestimating the effect of warming on animal populations 🔥🔥🔥

Tim Janicke, Göran Arnqvist and colleagues have a new paper out discussing how biological sex is rooted in anisogamy (different gamete sizes) and how this relates to broader evolutionary patterns of sex-specific selection. You can read more about it here: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...

Biological Sex Is Binary and Rooted in Anisogamy

Drawing on empirical evidence and evolutionary theory, we argue that biological sex is most coherently defined as a binary classification of reproductive strategies rooted in anisogamy (the productio...

I am excited to tell you about our new study led by Tyler Audet and in collaboration with Stefan Lüpold's group. Below you see two species. On the right is Drosophila melanogaster. On the left, Drosophila prolongata. Notice the highly exaggerated legs of the males in D.p! doi.org/10.1093/evol...

Two panel image of Drosophila prolongata and Drosophila melanogaster. In the top panel is a female of Drosophila prolongata on the left and a female of Drosophila melanogaster on the right. It shows that D. prolongata females are somewhat larger than melanogaster, and have spotted wings. Importantly the legs are proportional in each species.

In the bottom panel are males. On the left is a Drosophila prolongata male which is larger than all the other individuals, and has highly exaggerated legs in terms of width and length, and also has black stripes. In contrast male Drosophila melanogaster are much smaller than all the others, with normally proportioned legs.

🌡️ Excited to share my talk today at Global Change! 🗣️ “When Heat Stress Matters Most” I’ll discuss how stress affects life stages of insect 🐞 and why identifying vulnerable periods to climate change is important. 📅 01/07/2026 🕥 10:30–12:30 📍 Area Descartes — talk at 12:00 #ECE2026Tours

🌡️ Excited to share my talk today at GLOBAL CHANGE: Thermal ecology and climate change 3!

🗣️ “When Heat Stress Matters Most: Identifying Critical Windows of Thermal Vulnerability”
I’ll discuss how thermal stress impacts organisms across life stages and why identifying vulnerable windows is key to understanding responses to climate change.
