Must be case of the Mondays, but can't help but note how in the 80s magazines were showcasing and reviewing erotic games, while today you will get banned for even trying to stream one (even the very same games this November 1987 magazine is talking about), let alone review it.

Submissions for the Six One Indie Showcase 2026 are now open through February 20th! Everything you need to know can be found in the submission form. As always, there are zero fees and no paid or commercial slots available. We can’t wait to see what you’re working on! ➡️ www.sixoneindie.com/showcase
As my last work week of 2025 starts, I realize I worked on over 40 new games this year, 40+ titles that were all unique in their own way. Regardless of how messed up and sometimes unfair this industry is, there are some incredibly creative people out there! ♥️
Ah yeah, the famously inclusive and friendly Saudi Arabia! Wouldn't be surprised if they end up paying people to inflate those numbers. Anybody willing to go of their own volition (and sponsor this in the process) is either a horrible human being or happy to commit PR suicide.
Saudi Arabia's latest overture to the games industry is a new conference, produced by GDC parent Informa, taking place in December 2026 www.gamesindustry.biz/saudi-arabia...
Hmm.. @henrystockdale.com leaving games media has to be some sort of "end of an era" moment. I think you were one of the longest-standing contacts on my pitch lists! Best of luck with your next adventure, and ofc welcome to the dark side :D
So... I still can't believe I'm writing this. After three years with @UploadVR.com, it's surreal to say I'm stepping down after next week. Happy to say this was my choice, and I'm beyond thrilled to announce I'm joining @futurefriendsgames.com on January 12th! 👀 - medium.com/@terranauts9...
This is great news, especially as more and more smaller outlets that routinely covered indie games are struggling to stay afloat.
Over at Kotaku, we are trying to cover at least one cool indie game every week. It's called Indie of the Week! kotaku.com/opinion/impr... If you are an indie dev with something cool, feel free to send it to Tips@Kotaku.com!
"Why are you so adamant on leaving the city?" Well my partner was attacked, spat on and almost dragged off a bus today for no apparent reason other than the fact she exists - all while other passengers watched and didn't lift a finger to help.
I've extended the deadline to December 3, since I'll be out of town anyway. Might take some late submissions past that, but the closer they are to the event, the less likely I'll be able do get them in!
Attention Indie Devs! I just need 15 seconds ... of your game footage! A lot of people jumped on the 15s video trend, so I thought it would be cool to make a compilation to help indies get some visibility. The anti-spam key is "kook". lonewulfstudio.com/indieshowcas...
So... my partner discovered Ragnarock VR and is now "casually" asking about drumkits while also mentioning we have a spare room. Be real with me: on a scale from 1 to 10, how cooked am I?
Hello indies! It's almost Thanksgaming 2025! If you have an unknown indie project in dev or just released, please could you email me at jwalker@kotaku.com with the subject "THANKSGAMING 2025", and a store page and YouTube link? I'll put as many as I can on Kotaku. Rules next. Reposts appreciated!
Monthly reminder to content creators that email is the easiest way for PR ppl and devs to send you games, press releases and goodies! So make sure you have a public email address on your profile! Even if you're a smaller channel, there are always games we think could be a good fit!
Or... listen to this: "we are actively reducing e-waste and helping the planet while also avoiding unnecessary purchases" Keep it up. Fuck big-tech.
"People are poor and that's not enriching the rich"
Got back into VR games after working on one recently and man my arms are NOT having it today.
I was broke, living abroad, and trying to make ends meet when I found out I could get (some) money writing about video games. Fast-forward a few years, someone asked me if I wanted to help them with some PR stuff and the rest, as they say, is history.
What’s the lore behind choosing your career path ?
Any friend of Claire is a friend of mine - so I guess we have two people looking for a job here! If you have any leads, this is the time to share!
Woke up to a slew of "we only do sponsored opportunities" emails after pitching 2 indie games last week and I think this warrants a note: While I'm all for monetizing, most indie devs simply won't be able to afford smth like that. A single video is often more than a dev's whole marketing budget.
If you find yourself in France and have a chance to attend this - absolutely do it! Derek is amazing!
I'm giving an IN-PERSON Game Trailer Masterclass in FRANCE! Seven jam-packed hours of talking about the good and bad of making trailers 👀 January 19th in Paris January 21st in Lyon Here's a video with an overview, and the link to sign up 👇🏼 gamemasterclasses.catalogueformpro.com/7/business/2...

"I code so others can dream." Gayming Icon and LGBTQ+ video game pioneer, Rebecca Heineman, has sadly passed away after a short, tough fight with aggressive cancer. Read our obituary to this true industry trailblazer: gaymingmag.com/2025/11/gaym...
Forget the dip in productivity, the fact that a bunch of major platforms have suddenly become unavailable because of a single set of technical issues shows just how over-reliant the world has become on relatively fragile infrastructure. And that should be very worrying.
steam is apparently allowing "this game had AI in it that it didn't disclose" as a valid return statement, so if you or anyone you know actually paid $70 for slop, get that money back
Insulting to the players, insulting to the IP, insulting to the medium, the developers. And the craft itself. Fuck you executives who pushed this garbage. frvr.com/blog/call-of...
If you're mad about the Game Awards nominees, remember that those represent just a (very small) fraction of the whole industry. There were over 17K games landing on Steam so far in 2025 - 10K using the "indie" tag. Get out there, try something weird, I'm sure you'll find something you'll love!
🍄 What? Another mushrooms farm update nobody's asked for? We started a new batch a few days ago and they are already growing so much! 🍄 No worries, we'll go back to our regular indie games content soon!
And after over three years of this shit, I'm finally FREE! Oh, almost forgot: FUCK ADOBE!

Something a bit different: while I'm still working in games, I recently acquired a small farm in the Italian mountains and started experimenting with different crops. Today, my first flush of button mushrooms was ready to harvest! 🍄
I’ve been working for 15 years as an animator and I can tell you without a doubt, the best fix I ever found for imposter syndrome is living a full life where your days and worth don’t hinge on whether or not you were a good animator today.
Spent a day putting together pitch lists, which means it's once again a good time for a reminder: CONTENT CREATORS - ADD YOUR EMAILS TO YOUR PROFILES! I know it's a pain, but it's the only way we have to send games your way! 😭 Also keep an eye on this space! There's something coming soon!
