Today’s European Parliament report on development cooperation and migration sends a strong message in light of the negotiations on the next EU budget: development aid should not be conditional on migration control measures.

The Council’s Conclusions on Global Gateway include welcome language on human rights, gender equality, local ownership, civil society participation, transparency and accountability. The real test is whether these principles shape project selection, financing and governance.

🚨 The LIBE Committee in the @europarl.europa.eu has approved its mandate to negotiate the so-called #DeportationRegulation. The proposal expands detention, introduces offshore “return hubs”, and could allow deportations to countries people have no ties with.

In Lebanon, families forced to flee conflict are arriving in displacement with almost nothing. Basic essentials like food, cooking kits and hygiene supplies are urgently needed.

Today, the LIBE committee in the @europarl.europa.eu will vote on the #deportation regulation. Together with 200+ CSOs we have called since the beginning for a full rejection of this cruel proposal. We call on MEPs to take a firm stand today: vote against an inhumane deportation regime!
