That makes me think the much loved Tommy Cooper - who died of a heart attack on stage with the audience thinking it was part of the act might also be an example of kayfabe. He was a comedian whose act was that he was a terrible magician, the audience came to watch him pretend to be bad at magic
I have two poet friends who use kayfabe in their work. (One has a Pulitzer) and though I grew up a WWF and Lucha Libre fan I didn’t know the word. Then I saw a masked wrestler literally die in the ring and no one did anything for a while cause they assumed it was fake.
