I work in community development, I'm a community historian and I don't know if I'm gluten or lactose intolerant, but I won't find out. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ Writing a book about the lives of sex workers in Victorian Glasgow. Expect lots of chat on that.

Nothing like an archive saying "it's actually across 29 volumes...so...we'll give you 1 as a sample to see how difficult this will be." My girls, gays and theys, I am a horrible combination of determined and delusional. I will be there. Give me all 29 and watch me scream.

In an effort to save money (please see last posts as to why) I am asking for assistance in the form of lunch. Please drop your favourite instant noodles below. Noods if you will. I recently had the maggi chicken ones, which were a good 5.5/10. I'm looking for your 7s and 8s.

A sad trombone noise of an ending for a story I’ve been researching for months as a man escapes justice due to “a lack of evidence.” Come to my talk and you’ll see just how much evidence I have uncovered. (spoiler: enough to 24601 the shit out of that fella)

Devastated to find the word "chic" is being used in a disposable meme way because I often use it to sell myself on doing things alone. Going to the cinema alone? Chic. Eating in a nice restaurant alone? Chic. The museum alone? Awfully chic darling. Now it's just code for "gurl, go to therapy."

My bank froze my card this morning because I tried to buy a Red Bull at the Spar. It appears I have been foiled at last, for 'tis I, the master thief of the North East, the Rogue of the G21, the Charlatan of Contactless payments, here to steal your bank card and spend £2.69 on a sugar free red bull

I find Julia Child's voice endlessly comforting so sometimes I like to imagine a muppet version of her telling me I did a good job when I'm cooking. Or doing anything really. Aw thanks muppet Julia, your support means everything to me.

Good news! I got a grant to continue my energy project which will be a revolutionary initiative creating a democratically led supplier for our community which will 1) immediately lower bills for schools and community orgs 2) utilise income for community benefit with no shareholder payouts

A still of Leslie Knope from Parks & Recreation who I am often compared to which I like. Please do that more.

Down to the last few tickets for this! If you fancy going, but aren't sure yet, let me know and I'll reserve a space for you. We'll also get spicy margs in a former brothel after. Info: Saturday October 17th, 11:30am @ the Boardwalk in the Merchant City. £8 or DM to secure a place xo

Would very much appreciate it if you wouldn't let me leave the house anymore. I am a menace. Was walking up the Drygate and overheard a group of American tourists wondering about what an old wall might have been for and gave them a 20 minute lecture on Duke Street Prison. Unsolicited.

This will be exciting to exactly 1 person and that person is me. I've always had enough proof that this is the wedding record for Ann Sophia Minette and James M'Cloy after they eloped together to London. And today I found more evidence. (excuse all the different McCloy/McLay/M'Clays plz)

A wedding record marked June 12th 1869 in St. Peter's Pimlico between James McLay, Bachelor, Wine Merchant, of Brewer Street, whose father is listed as James McLay Butcher, and Ann Young, Spinster, of Brewer Street, whose father is listed as Thomas Young, Merchant. Signed, INTERESTINGLY, James McLoy, and Ann Young.

What a lovely array of groceries I have purchased. Fresh fruits, vegetables, new spices and oils to season and make sauces. My ancestors would marvel at this. The ghost of my 4x Granny Kernaghan: come here to me now, you don’t want to be doin any of that sure. G’on and order yerself a pizza.

I had to do a rework of my talk. No more witchcraft. No more Mary. I couldn't cut the stories of Glasgow's Victorian women. Stories that might not have been told since they were gossiped about in brothel bedrooms, on tenement stairs, on factory floors and the cells of Duke Street Prison.

A poster for a history talk "Lessons in History - Sex Work, Crime and Corruption: The Women of Victorian Glasgow." It's a working title. Give me a break. My brain is full.
