The EHRC code of practice comes in today, bringing in to the UK the most draconian regime for single sex spaces targeting trans people for a liberal democracy in the industrialised, under what is our nominally left of centre governing party.

Quite impressive to completely undermine your own defence and insult most of your party's elected officials in the same sentence.

I did assume that this was a case of a local organisation having totally lost the plot, but Kemi Badenoch is now forcefully and explicitly defending the selection of a former neo-Nazi with a significant criminal history as a candidate. Crackers and terrifying.

You only have to look at the veneration of the recently deceased Rod Liddle by prominent women in the "gender critical" movement (Kathleen Stock, Rosie Duffield etc.) to know that their claim to be "protecting women" is utter nonsense.

The "Rewiring the State" position paper from the Cabinet is ambitious in aim and a clear vision for direction of travel. It sounds promising and some of the detail has been thought through. If they can pull it off it could lead to real change, so let's see what happens...

Burnham announces: 1. Casey will bring forward her review by a year to summer 2027. He wants it to focus on creating a National Care Service that is ‘highly integrated’ with the NHS. 2. He will look at improving pay and progression of social care workforce. 3. Cross party talks to begin today.

The Burnham government needs to be very careful not to follow in Truss’s footsteps. Don’t announce unfunded tax cuts alongside huge spending increases (esp. on energy). Positive to see quick movement on cost of living but keep big decisions for a fully-costed Budget!!
