Such a cool project allowing us to study rodent behavior while doing fMRI. The Hantman Lab (Scott Albert and I) was very happy to contribute. www.nature.com/articles/s41... N&V: www.nature.com/articles/s41...
SORDINO: silent, sensitive, specific and artifact-resistant fMRI in awake, behaving mice - Nature Neuroscience
The authors develop SORDINO, a silent, sensitive and distortion-free fMRI method. They benchmark the technique against conventional approaches, reveal its functional contrast mechanisms and use it to ...

The lab has been at full capacity, but with team members moving to their next career steps, we have open postdoc positions.
You've never seen human anatomy like this before. Using a particle accelerator, the Human Organ Atlas is producing 3D scans of our organs in unprecedented detail! You can look through different layers of tissue and even zoom in on the cells for the heart, lungs, eyes, kidneys, and more.
Had to much fun working on this project with Kelsey and the Hoekstra lab. A project born after Hopi gave a talk at Janelia may years ago

🧠🌟🐭 Excited to share some of my postdoc work on the evolution of dexterity! We compared deer mice evolved in forest vs prairie habitats. We found that forest mice have: (1) more corticospinal neurons (CSNs) (2) better hand dexterity (3) more dexterous climbing, which is linked to CSN number🧵
Evolutionary expansion of the corticospinal system is linked to dexterity in Peromyscus mice https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2025.10.16.682851v1
We had a great kick-off site visit with our NHP teams at the University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University, and John Hopkins University! Thank you all so much for hosting us! @adamhantman.bsky.social @raeedcho.bsky.social @cmu.edu
If you need to compare matrices or two-dimensional data that can be brought into matrix form, consider using Singular Angle Similarity: journals.aps.org/prxlife/abst...
Assessing the Similarity of Real Matrices with Arbitrary Shape
Singular Angle Similarity measures the similarity of real, arbitrary matrices by taking into account their two-dimensional structure, outperforming standard methods like cosine similarity or Frobenius...

My labs #1 source of viruses. Full disclosure I may be married to the director.
We specialize in creating custom viral vectors for neuroscience applications. We would love to hear what is or is not working for you. We are here to facilitate your research! www.unc-neurotools.org Stay tuned for unique insights for optimizing viral vectors in your experiments.
Spent a week in Arizona with these amazing people at the inaugural summit for the Raynor Institute. We are trying to advance the next generation of neuromodulation to help those with cerebellar disorders and maybe more.
Even though UNC had an off year, at least Duke are not national champions. I’ll take it. Along with a natty for @uncwomenssoccer.bsky.social

Just thinking about how inspiring David Ginty’s Perl Prize talk was. Thanks David
I am excited to announce that I will be founding an institute for network stimulation at the University Hospital Cologne – already this coming May!
Been thinking a lot about rejections in science, since I have now seen it from both sides. Been a particularly tough week for my lab. Of course, it is part of the process, but it is also important to compartmentalize the effects. Especially to minimize impact on personal life and family.
