Burnham’s basic problem is that he has promised to deliver system change, and to unite the Labour Party. But Labour is part of the system, and most of it doesn’t want fundamental change.
Jonathan Porritt has been arrested. As he says "trying to save lives is not terrorism, exposing this Governments complicity in genocide is not terrorism."
NEW: Sir Jonathon Porritt, arrested under Terrorism law outside Westminster Magistrates Court. As police escorted him away he said "I am a supporter of Palestine Action, trying to save lives is not terrorism, exposing this Governments complicity in genocide is not terrorism." www.wedonotcomply.org
Controversial opinion, but I think the way @zackpolanski.bsky.social is very accessible online and engages with loads of people is good. Greens should resource him to so there is a little more filter, but spending time engaging with people in every possible way is kind of his job.

I very much enjoyed going on Radio2 this afternoon to say that Farage and his lackies are pathetic little cry bullies.
I just did LBC on T-shirt-gate with newborn strapped to me in the sling. The two year old ran in half way through because her iPad wasn’t working. But I think I managed to make the basic point that we’re only talking about this because Nigel Farage is a massive crybully. You stand up to bullies.

Count Binface has lots of perfectly sensible policies, but I’m horrified by his ignorance of frozen dairy product history. 99 ice creams are so called because they were invented at a shop at 99 Portobello High Street, in 1922. They won’t have cost 99p then - that was the equivalent of £50.04 today.
We can enjoy a great view watching the fires from the newly-repositioned Overton Window
Britain’s biggest mountain range is on fire. The Rhine, Rhône and Danube are parched in terrifying droughts, and Britain’s new prime minister is promising to drill baby, drill.

This is *quite* the read! "The #FossilFuel industry all over the world relies heavily on English and Welsh law. If we want to think about our role in preventing #ClimateBreakdown, we need to consider how we can stop our courts from servicing the organisations driving us over a cliff edge."

All of the kids at my daughters’ nursery are still singing “no Scotland, no party”. Which tells you something about how national self-impressions form.
As Keir Starmer announces a surge in military spending, it’s important to remember that a large chunk of Britain’s ‘defence’ budget is actually focussed on protecting the global oil trade: open.substack.com/pub/abolishw...

Power devolved is power retained. A new prime minister letting regional mayors make more decisions for now isn’t nothing, but it’s not the fundemental constitutional rewiring that we need.
Big polluters love an British court. They work hard to make sure they are protected by British judges. We need to understand how our legal system is killing the planet: open.substack.com/pub/abolishw...

My third daughter, Raven Isla Ramsay Daigre, was born last week. If Andy Burnham does appoint oil industry shill James Purnell as his chief of staff, he will be setting fire to her future: open.substack.com/pub/abolishw...
We had another baby last week! And I’ve been watching the political events since then through that lens: open.substack.com/pub/abolishw...
The last British party leader to secure a majority and serve a full term as prime minister was Tony Blair 2001-2005. This is not a stable political system.
Being the best fans in the world cheering on a mediocre team is what being Scottish is all about.
