As a test case for fixing the Weapon XML tab, Ken toodled around with making some Trek ships on the "SI 13 is a Huge Ship" scale. Can't show the SSDs just yet, but...

A set of 6 weapon tables for Squadron Strike for a Plasma Carronade (a Wide Conic Area weapon that peaks at 12 damage in each range bracket), the Photon Torpedo (A long range weapon with a cooldown turn that has fairly steady damage and low Penetration, plus Split Strike /2), the Klingon Disruptor Cannon (Only goes to range 10, low damage and high Penetration, with Phasing and Continuous 7).

Federation Phasers and Romulan Phasers are _nearly_ identical; the Federation Phaser has more damage in the middle range bracket, it's got a slightly wider point blank bracket...and has Precision Fire, which the Romulan phaser lacks.

The Klingon Phaser is slightly less fancy than either of the Federation or Romulan types, has the same range rackets as the heavy weapon, and has more variable damage on the closest bracket.

Just put together the SqSt 3e bundle. It should be up for sales on Wargame Vault and the Ad Astra Games website on Friday evening! Possibly tomorrow if the Ad Astra Games webshop re-org gets done in time. We're about two product categories to go!

Spent the weekend cleaning out INDIRECT functions from the Spreadsheet of Doom. Four (internal) versions ago, before the new export tab, we had 148,800 INDIRECT functions and ~3,000 OFFSETS. We're down to 41,148 INDIRECTS and about 40 OFFSETS. Responsiveness is noticeably improved.

One of the rules that we get asked "Why the heck is this here?" in Squadron Strike are the Endurance depletion and Material Condition rules. This is why. The Ford had 8 months. The Lincoln is at 9. The Washington is at 3. Normal deployments are 6 months with underway replenishments.

🚨EXCLUSIVE: Military families and service members are now describing horrific conditions across MULTIPLE ships: human waste flooding bathrooms, virtually no food, water or soap, months without port calls, exhausted crews, and no end in sight. This crisis is far bigger than just the Lincoln.

Had occasion to remember this: SFB speed 1 is c. One hex is 10,000 km. Ergo, one SFB turn is 1/30th of a second as viewed from the Einsteinian universe. Which means that one impulse is 1/30 * 1/32 = 1/960th of a second. It's close enough to a millisecond that we can call them equal.

Hey comics people, The Dark Horse union needs your support right now. Senior editors do more work than most of you can possibly imagine and they deserve to be apart of the union. Some of them have been waiting a long time for this. Stand with them! Please sign and share this petition!

Design once, six exports! When @witty-user.bsky.social gets around to making a pretty output for Fleet Ops, and makes an HTML export for it, we'll add it to the output tab... Other than a quadratic equation throwing a Starmada Hull Size of 0 for a DN needing an error-bound...this might be done!

A screen capture of a spreadsheet with purple and blue dropdowns on the left, and "banners" (columns of text) in gray, dark blue, light blue, burnt orange, black-with-yellow text and dark gray with green text.

The first four banners have white text, and are Squadron Strike's XML, Starmada's XML, Starmada's HTML, and Fleet Op's XML.

The two dark banners have Starmada's PlainText output, and a provisional PlainText output for Fleet Ops.

(Nobody would play Squadron Strike with a PlainText SSD other than to say they did it once....)
