An incredible person who had a seismic effect on Newcastle United. Was manager for my first ever Toon match back in 1992, and nearly took us all the way to the Premier League title. Devastated that we’ve lost him, one of a kind and true legend of the game. RIP King Kev #NUFC

Getting 15 mins away from a World Cup final is really tough to take. But we looked terrified of being 1-0 up. We receded too earlier and practically begged Argentina to pin us back. Two lapses in concentration cost us goals, and Argentina managed the whole occasion far better. #ENG

An emotional send off for Kieran Trippier: a hugely transformational signing since arriving over 4 years ago. Joined a relegation-threatened club, and played in 2 Champions League campaigns, 2 League Cup finals, lifting our first trophy in decades. A modern club legend. #NUFC

Newcastle 3-1 Brighton Much needed win and a marked improvement 1st half. We looked nervy after the break, and I’m still confused about team selections and politics involved. But finding goalscoring form has been something we’ve lacked for far too long, Osula did well today. Big Joe too. 🖤🤍 #NUFC

No lessons learned from that first corner. Eze left free at the edge of the box with a 15 yard radius around him. Great finish, but so, SO easy. Scandalous defending, we fully deserved that. What are we doing?? FFS. #NUFC

Hard to know what to say anymore. Another turgid, cowardly display. Too scared to battle, too scared to cross and we lacked leadership for most of the game. When senior players came on, we were chasing the game - not nearly enough quality front to back. Really grim. #NUFC

Encouraging 1st half, but we crumbled after the equaliser. Man City made the 2nd half look far too easy, and scoring so soon after HT killed the tie. We had an eye on Barca, but City bringing on Cherki, Foden and Semenyo off the bench showed the gulf in quality and depth. #NUFC

An absolutely stunning performance in the face of adversity, once again. We showed fight, character and resilience to see off inform Man Utd and an abysmal referee. Joelinton a beast, huge Ramsdale saves and whole team fed off the noise and injustice. What a finish from Osula, what a win! #NUFC

Disastrous performance, deserved nothing. Cheap opener bad enough, but conceding straight after both equalisers unforgivable. Sloppy with ball, poor decisions in final third. Infuriating how much worse league form is vs cup. Everton, referee and Newcastle all shite today. #NUFC

Not our smoothest performance but did what we had to without overexerting. If tie wasn’t over at HT in Baku, it definitely was tonight at 2-0 after 6 mins. We had the luxury of rotation, pleased to see younger fringe players get minutes. More intensity needed for Everton. #NUFC

I hate VAR. It’s ruined the sport, I’d get rid in a heartbeat. I also don’t believe the unacceptably low levels of officiating seen in Villa v Newcastle should be a reason to retain VAR. We should all expect better basic refereeing as a bare minimum, stakes are too high. #NUFC

Big win in the face of huge adversity. Tonali’s 2nd: satisfying and venemous. Buzzing for Big Nick too, deserved his goal. Make no mistake, we can count Chris Kavanagh & team as part of our opposition today. Dreadful calls on multiple decisions. Hang your heads in shame. Pure incompetence. #NUFC

A tough defeat in the rain, but I didn’t like the tone we set 1st half. We gave Villa so much space, time and encouragement. They deserved the win, but hugely benefited from the abysmal and spineless Jarred Gillett. He’s just not good enough. Better 2nd half, Miley and Botman our best. #NUFC

A class performance and win under the lights to book our place in the Knockouts. We looked hungry, fluid and committed to the game-plan. Great opening for Wissa, Hall and Joelinton impressed, as did Elanga. We reminded ourselves just how dominant and clinical we can be. #NUFC

Felt like a game too far after the 4-3 and penalty shootout. Thought we battled, but fatigue was evident, particularly in 2nd half. Beaten by a better team and we had chances to hurt them, but lacked conviction. Big ask to overturn 2-0 in 2nd leg. #NUFC

Another bonkers game at St James’ Park! And just like Wednesday, we weren’t at our best, conceded 3, saw a Barnes brace and crucially never gave up. Progression in the FA Cup lower priority atm, but so important to keep winning streak going ahead of a big League Cup Semi-Final. 🖤🤍#NUFC

A crazy, infuriating and euphoric game of football. Plenty of chances, mistakes and goals, but a desire to fight to the end and win. Abysmal showing by the officials, but a huge win that puts us 6th. 3 Premier League points the perfect birthday present for my dad too! #NUFC

A feisty 2-2 draw after one of the best 1st half displays of 25/26. We created plenty of chances but once again failed to see off opponents from a winning position. Felt 11 v 12 in the 2nd half - bizarre officiating, plenty of penalty shouts turned away. Pleased for Big Nick’s brace. #NUFC

Big QF win to earn a 3rd League Cup SF in 4 seasons. A goalscoring full debut for Wissa and another headed Miley goal just enough to nudge out Fulham who offered little threat. A ponderous 1st half but more energy, impetus and invention after HT made it a deserved win. #NUFC
