Because AI scrapes only the plain text, it can't know those things. If someone shares a paywalled research paper, and they write a false summary of the research as people are tend to do online, the AI will scrape the false summary instead of the paper itself even if it links the paper as a "source".

I want everyone to know, my books and anything I work on is AI free. It's 100% garbage, but it's 100% human made garbage.

I have started running Claude alongside the book I am writing on ants, as well as just letting Google Gemini do its thing at the top when I do Google search. It is not doing any writing I am using, and I am always checking the results against primary sources.

For anyone who says AI helps with "researching" stuff online, let me tell you, it doesn't if you care about accuracy and truth. I can't find anything accurate with it that I cannot find with a normal search engine. And it has a consistent 5% chance of just straight up lying to me.

I'd honestly rather @hankgreen.bsky.social slow down and make less content than use AI to generate any stuff. The fact the guy genuinely understands how gen AI works and still uses it to this level, is frankly morally indefensible. He's also a multi-millionaire, so "need to work more" is no excuse.

I've been thinking of redoing the names and thumbnails of all my investigative deep dive videos. I made a preliminary list, and I can only say the running gag of my channel seems to be: "That escalated quickly"

Witch Hat Atelier is a very well written and great manga. But it can also be kind of frustrating to read, because it is progressivism 101. And being media literate enough to see that makes the fantasy escapism hard to enjoy, since I just keep going back to, "Oh, I recognise that problem IRL".

I accidentally did something morally questionable in researching my story, and I will now spend the next 2 weeks agonizing over it. Meanwhile, the multi-billion dollars companies I'm looking into that stole from people will not even care of the harm they've caused. A staggering thought.
