I have no spoons & I must scream (×♾️) I have so many things I need & want to do, but work keeps steamrolling me. I’m only getting sicker as limitations of my body grow. I don’t have spoons to reply to DMs or be here much but I’m trying. To be in this worsening situation over years is harrowing🧵

It's a chilling realization...but ultimately it's 100% right. "Disability is the only minority you could join at any time" Think of how often (and how many) people willingly ignore or try not to think about disabled people. Think about how many people would just not want to think of you anymore.

Wild to see the difference in support between pride and disability pride months. A lot of us have overlap between both of those yet see drastically less shares/support during disability pride. We're people too. We still matter. Disability is the only minority you could join at any time. Be kind.

talk about in your secret book clubs or ask or speculate about where the story might be going. You can simply bullet point list all the feelings it had you feeling, do an interpretative dance through emojis, or even ask the author what their favorite part is. Cultivate human connections in fandom.

If you don't know how to comment or message a fanfic author it's okay, we don't know how to talk to people either. Just don't be rude and all awkwardness is fine. You can simply tell that you loved their work, it will have 100x the impact of a simple kudos. You can talk about all the things you +

conversations about their own work. I promise you you can message a random fic author today to gush at them and you would make their day. You might even make a new friend. You might inspire and influence even more work done for your fandom which is a win/win for all. This is how it used to be done +

just general gushing about how the fic made you feel. You need to let the author know these things too not just your friends. Fanfic writers are your friends too, they are just people who want to gush about their stories too, but who so often nowadays are left completely alone and out of these +

where people gush about fanfiction in private circles, where the fic author never ends up hearing ANY of that. That is precisely the kind of stuff that is critical to direct at the writers themselves. It's the food that keeps the machine going. Feedback, sharing favorite moments, speculation, +

I'm seeing more & more posts from people with Long COVID & other disabilities describing profound loneliness 6+ years into this pandemic. Loneliness & social isolation are major public health concerns associated with ~900K deaths annually globally (pre COVID estimate)
