At last night's Senior Honors Night HFT awarded scholarships to eight graduating Cosmos including HFT Future Teacher Scholarship winner and future early childhood educator Salwa Al-Harris and Myra Barnett Memorial Scholarship winner and future EMU Eagle and nurse Malachi Brown.

HFT members had a busy week! On Wednesday, we participated in the Hamtramck Recreation Dept Trunk or Treat event, passing out books and donated food to the community. On Halloween, members showed off their creative side with some fun costumes!

Monday I attended the Wayne-Westland Teachers picket. They are in the middle of intense contract negotiations. If educators are pushing back there is good reason. Teacher working conditions are student learning conditions.
HFT was proud to support Detroit Friendship House and help them distribute food for 200 Hamtramck families this Thanksgiving.
