It's not even a random idea. It's old knowledge to buy quality items as much as you can for things between you and nature. Boots, shoes, socks, car tires.. if it protects you from stuff you gotta be doing for many hours at a time, you're gonna shell out. My $180 boots lasted me 10 years.

I can only file a new unemployment claim on the 23rd. My car payment is due the 26th. They're really unlikely to send my payment direct deposit that week. Every dollar helps.
