🚨 Microplastics: From Our Oceans to Our Bodies 🚨 ECOTON’s recent “Plastic Surgery on Plastic Man” event in Surabaya, Indonesia sent a clear message—plastic pollution isn’t just harming the planet; it’s now a threat to human health.

Since 2014, we've collected a total of 7,167,514 pieces of litter! It may seem like the problem is getting worse every year, but is that true? More cleanups, more volunteers, a larger staff, and better targeting of more polluted areas for cleanups have all played a part in increasing our numbers.

No pollutant has a more gleeful, Dr. Seussian name than the "nurdle." And we spill a lot of them, as BloombergNEF wrote on Friday ($), in an update about companies fined for doing so: "It takes 600 nurdles to make one small plastic bottle. Over 11 trillion are estimated to enter oceans each year."

Hello! We're new here! We're an environmental non-profit in Canada that preserves the environment through litter cleanups, education and events. To date, our volunteers have helped pick up over 7 million pieces of litter!

A group of ten volunteers are posing for a photo on the beach after a litter cleanup event. The sky is blue with some clouds. The volunteers are standing on the sand with Lake Ontario behind them. They're holding buckets and bags full of litter that they collected.
