My elderly mother is still warning me to beware of "internet hobbits" & also "all of that really creepy A-One stuff," and I corrected her the first few times on how to say it, but then I stopped when I realized I enjoy her and her way of putting things more.
Jimmy Page atop the Dayton’s Ramp, today in 1966. (via the ever-great Twin Cities Music Highlights site; twincitiesmusichighlights.net/venue/daytons/)
On this day. August 5, 1966, the Yardbirds played at Dayton’s in downtown Minneapolis. It was Jimmy Page’s first ever performance in the United States. Jimmy’s FB post from three years ago:

The Yardbirds show happened the day after Simon & Garfunkel’s appearance there.
That Jon Bream article a few posts up this thread mentioned the first Simon and Garfunkel concert in Minneapolis was at the old Dayton's department store auditorium, on Aug. 4, 1966, part of a monthlong SUPER YOUTHQUAKE event at the store. The Yardbirds played the next day on Aug. 5!

If you'd like something even more dangerous, our archive is so old that we don't use these fancy modern rolling stacks. Ours are attached to a motorised chain that runs the length of the room. This means sometimes they like to move by themselves just a little, enough to keep you on edge.

I was in a friend’s rental car and in place of a rear-view mirror there was a mirror-sized digital video feed of the back of the car. They replaced one of the most reliable & intuitive safety features in a car with a digital surrogate that could glitch at any moment. KEEP ANALOG SAFTEY FEATURES
Would I risk an instablock by bragging about Finnish trains, where 4.5 hours is much less weary? (OK so this is perilously close to "this is more a comment than a question" territory.)

C’mon folks, I’m depending on you lot for entrainment here!
Anyway, four and a half hours is an awfully long time. AMA?
After his funeral the kids he taught to operate his Victorian letterpress helped each of the mourners ink up and print a tribute to him.
My answer is LOL ROFL (dickbrain) The terminally AI-pilled can't even *imagine* some people have *never* asked stochastic parrots to cheat at their job for them.
When I was shown the iPlayer by a tech guy at the Beeb, I asked where was the password page for putting I your licence fee number. And he said “oh. Shit. We should have done that.” It didn’t occur to them. But that’s the first thing you’d do as a commercial streamer. Lock out non members.

When I think of Homer, I think of the Homer statue at the University of Virginia—and the fact that for over 25 years, Ted Lendon has been making students (including me, once) learn how to march in a phalanx on the lawn. ⚔️
It's the Dinkytown of Michigan.
